Baseball falls to SBU on Friday


Story Headlines
- The Northwest Missouri State University baseball team fell to Southwest Baptist, 17-6, on Friday at Dodson Field in Bolivar, Mo.
- Northwest is now 24-13 on the year and 13-11 in conference action. Southwest Baptist improves to 26-11 overall and 16-8 in MIAA play.
- Seven Northwest players recorded a hit in the game.

- Northwest scored one in the first, two in the sixth and three in the eighth. Southwest Baptist scored four in the first, two in the second, two in the third, two in the fifth, one in the sixth and six in the eighth.
- SBU had 17 runs on 13 hits with an error. Northwest scored six runs on 10 hits with three errors.
- Ozzie Adams was 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles and two runs scored.
- Landon Figg hit a home run in the eighth, going 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI.

Key Northwest Innings
- With one down in the first, Adams hit a double to right center. After a flyout, Hassman hit an RBI double to left on the first pitch he saw, driving in Adams for the game's first run.

- Adams doubled down the left field line to start the sixth inning. Figg singled to right to put runners on the corners. A wild pitch allowed Adams to come in and score as Figg advanced to second. After a flyout that allowed Figg to move up to third, another wild pitch allowed him to score Northwest's third run.

- In the eighth, Figg hit his third home run of the year to lead off the inning. Hassman reached on an error and went to second two batters later on an infield single by Wilkinson. With one down, Barratt doubled to right, driving in Hassman. After a walk to load the bases, Rycraft reached on a fielder's choice, allowing Wilkinson to score from third.
