- The Northwest Missouri State University softball team split a pair of games on the final day of the UAM 8-State Classic in Bentonville, Ark., on Sunday.
- Northwest captured a 5-3 win in the second game on Sunday over Rockhurst University.
- In the first game, the Bearcats fell to William Jewell in a wild contest, 5-4. The game ended with Northwest's would be tying run being tagged out at the plate.

Game One Key Statistics (William Jewell 5, Northwest 4)
- Northwest scored one in the third, two in the fifth and one in the seventh. The Cardinals scored two in the second, two in the third and one in the fifth
- The Bearcats had four total runs on eight hits with an error. William Jewell scored five runs on nine hits but committed four errors.

Rebecca Maher was 2-for-3 with a pair of runs batted in and a run scored. She hit a solo home run in the seventh inning.

Kaitlin Weis was 1-for-4 with a pair of RBIs and a double. She pitched the final 4.0 innings of the game, allowing one run on three hits with three strikeouts.

Game One Key Innings
- Baderdeen struck out to start the top of the third but a wild pitch allowed her to reach safely. She went to second as Blythe reached on an error. Moses would lay down a sacrifice bunt to get her to third. With one down, Maher hit a sacrifice fly to center, scoring Baderdeen to cut the Cardinals' lead to 2-1.
- With one down, Baderdeen again found her way on base, singling to left. After an out, Moses reached on an infield single to short and Maher followed it with a single to left to load the bases. A second error on the shortstop allowed Weis to reach base safely, scoring Moses and Baderdeen on the play to make it a 4-3 William Jewell advantage.
- In the seventh, Blythe tripled to lead off but was doubled off third on a flyout from Moses. Maher then took a 1-1 pitch over the right center wall to make it a 5-4 ball game. Weis followed it up with a double to left. Adams delivered a key single to left field but Weis was tagged out at the plate on what would have been the tying run to end the game.

Game Two Key Statistics (Northwest 5, Rockhurst 3)
- The Bearcats scored one in the second, two in the fourth and two in the fifth. Rockhurst got two runs in the fifth and one in the seventh.
- Northwest scored five total runs on nine hits while the Hawks scored three runs on eight hits. Neither team committed an error.
- Maher went 2-for-3 with two runs driven in and a run scored. She hit her second home run in the fifth inning, scoring two.
- Adams drew a pair of walks and in her only official at bat of the game, she hit a solo home run to right center in the second inning.
- Moses was 2-for-4 with a run scored.

Abigail Gilson was 1-for-3 with a run scored.
- Siemonsma was 1-for-3 in the second game.
- Baderdeen was 2-for-3 with an RBI and a double.

Holly Posegate got the start and went 5.0 innings. She allowed two runs on five hits with two strikeouts. She issued just one walk.
- Blackford finished off the game's final two innings. She allowed one run on three hits with a strikeout and a walk.
Game Two Key Innings
- Adams took the first pitch she saw in the second inning over the right center field fence to give Northwest an early 1-0 lead.
- In the fourth, Adams drew a lead off walk and went to second on a Gilson single. Both runners moved up on a groundout and after a strikeout, Adams was able to score on a wild pitch form third. Baderdeen then doubled to left center to score Gilson to make it 3-0 Bearcats.
- The fifth inning began with a Moses single to right field. Maher followed that up with her second home run of the day to left center field to extend the Northwest lead to 5-2.

- Northwest will return to action on Saturday, March 4, against Maryville College at 2 p.m. in Joplin, Mo. The team will play Drury University, McKendree University and Upper Iowa that weekend as well.
