- The Northwest Missouri State University softball team went 1-1 on Saturday at the UAM 8-State Classic in Bentonville, Ark.
- The Bearcats beat Ouachita Baptist, 8-1, in the first game but lost the second game to Southern Nazarene, 5-3.
- Northwest is now 3-5 on the year and will play two more times this weekend.

Taylor Blackford went the full 7.0 innings in the first game for the win. She allowed just one unearned run on four hits with five strikeouts. She did not walk a batter.

Game One Key Statistics (Northwest 8, Ouachita Baptist 1)
- Northwest scored one run in the first, two in the third and five in the seventh. The Tigers scored their lone run in the second inning.
- The Bearcats scored eight runs on 11 hits with two errors. Ouachita Baptist had one run on four hits with four errors.

Kaitlin Weis each went 2-for-5 in the first game. Both recorded RBIs and each scored a run.

Game One Key Innings
- Blyte came around to score the game's first run in the first inning after a leadoff single. She went to second on a Weis single and scored after an error by the center fielder on a Maher single.
- Weis led off the third with a homerun to right center to put Northwest up, 2-1. Maher followed it up with a walk and went to second after Rawie reached on an error by the shortstop. Two batters later, Baderdeen doubled down the left field line to score Maher to make it 3-1.
- Northwest put the game away in the seventh, scoring five runs. With one down, Rawie singled to left center and Adams followed it with a double to center. A Baderdeen walk loaded the bases for Gilson. Gilson responded with a double to left center, scoring Rawie and Adams. Allen then doubled to right center to score Gilson and Baderdeen to make it 7-1. With Allen still at second now with two outs, Blythe doubled to left, driving in Allen to make the score, 8-1.

Game Two Key Statistics (Southern Nazarene 5, Northwest 3)
- The Bearcats scored one run in the first and two in the seventh. The Storm scored on in the first and four in the third.
- Northwest finished the game with three runs on 10 hits with two errors. SNU had five runs on three hits with one error.
- Weis was 2-for-3 with two runs scored, a walk and an RBI.
- Maher went 2-for-4 with a run scored.
- Adams was 1-for-2 with a walk and an RBI.
- Gilson was 2-for-3 with a double in the second game.
- Moses went 2-for-3 at the plate.

Holly Posegate got the start in the circle and went 3.0 innings. She allowed just two hits, two earned runs with a strikeout and two walks.
- Weis pitched the final 4.0 innings. She did not allow a run, giving up just one hit with one walk. She also recorded one strikeout.
Game Two Key Innings
- Weis launched her second homerun of the season with one down in the bottom of the first, tying the game, 1-1.
- In the seventh, Weis and Maher led off with back-to-back singles and
Kailey Siemonsma reached on an error to load the bases. Adams grounded out to second, allowing Weis to score from third. Maher was able to score a batter later as Baderdeen grounded into a double play, crossing the plate prior to Siemonsma being tagged out at third.

- The third and final day in Bentonville begins Sunday at 1 p.m. against William Jewell. Northwest will then take on Rockhurst at 3 p.m.
