- The Northwest Missouri State University volleyball team began the 2016 campaign with a pair of victories at the Lindenwood Tournament on Friday in St. Charles, Mo.
- The Bearcats (2-0) started the day with a 3-1 win over Sioux Falls and won by the same margin in the afternoon session against Missouri-St. Louis.
- Northwest hit .232 in the combined two matches while holding opponents to just a .120 attack percentage.

Key Northwest Statistics
- Northwest won the first set, 25-14 and took the second, 27-25. After falling in the third set, 25-21, the Bearcats rebounded to win the fourth in convincing fashion, 25-14.
- The Bearcats' fourth set included a .615 attack percentage with 16 kills and no errors.
- Bruder had a match-best 17 kills, hitting .220. She also added six digs and three blocks.

Jackie Becker had 12 kills, no errors and hit .522 with eight blocks.

- With the score tied 24-24 in the second set, Bruder came up with a kill off an assist from Dannettell to give Northwest set-point. But Sioux Falls got a kill to tie it back up again at 25-25. A USF service error gave the Bearcats a second set point and
Darcy Sunderman delivered the winning kill to give Northwest a two-set lead.
- Up 10-7 in the fourth set, Northwest went on a 7-0 run to pull away from the Cougars. Becker started the rally with a kill follwed by a Foster service ace. A block from Becker and Bruder forced a USF timeout at 12-7. After the break, Bruder came up with three-straight kills to force a second Sioux Falls timout. Out of the timeout, Northwest forced another Cougar attacking error to push the lead to 16-7.

Key Northwest Statistics
- Northwest won the first set, 25-18, but dropped the second, 25-22. The Bearcats took the third and fourth sets by scores of 25-16 and 25-20, respectively.
- In the third set, Northwest hit .371 as a team while holding the Tritons to .091.
- The Bearcat defense was better in the fourth set, keeping UMSL in the negative attack percentage at -.020.
- Bruder had 20 kills in the match to go along with 13 digs, two blocks and a service ace.
- Becker added 10 kills with three blocks defensively.
- Dannettell had 47 assists with 17 digs and a pair of blocks.
- Nowakowski was one of four Bearcats in double-figures for digs, tallying 17 with eight assists.

- Holding a slim 11-9 lead in the third set, Northwest went on an 8-0 run to pull away from the Tritons. Bruder had four kills in the sequence which forced a pair of UMSL timeouts. Northwest also forced three attack errors and got a kill from Dannettell in the run.
- With the score tied 20-20 in fourth set, the Bearcats closed out the match convincingly with a 5-0 run. After a setting error on the Tritons, Sunderman put away a kill to force a UMSL timeout. Out of the break, Foster added a kill to make it 23-20. Another setting error by the Tritons gave Northwest a match-point. On a serve from
Sofia Schleppenbach, UMSL's Gina Pezze had an attacking error to give Northwest the victory.
