Baseball falls to Washburn on Friday, 3-0

- The Northwest Missouri State University baseball team fell to Washburn University, 3-0, on Friday afternoon at Falley in Topeka, Kan.
- The Bearcats are now 10-7 overall and 5-3 in MIAA play. The Ichabods move to 9-8 on the year and are now an even 4-4 in conference action.
- Aaron Barratt got the start in right field, going 3-for-4 with a stolen base.
- Anthony Caenepeel pitched 6.0 innings, allowing three runs with only one being earned. He allowed seven hits and three walks. He tallied four strikeouts.

- The Bearcats had seven total hits but also committed a pair of errors, leading to two unearned runs.
- Washburn scored single runs in the first, fourth and fifth innings. The Ichabods finished the day with eight hits and one error.

Key Northwest Innings
- Northwest's best inning offensively came in the top of the second. Handzlik and Lewis hit back-to-back singles to two on with no outs. Barratt came up next and reached on a bunt single to load the bases. But Washburn got a flyout that wasn't far enough to tag up for the first out and was able to get a grounder back to the pitcher to force Handzlik out at the plate. A strikeout ended the Bearcats' chance in the second.

- Caenepeel worked a perfect third inning, retiring the Ichabods on just 10 pitches.
