Soccer opens season with 1-1 draw

Story Highlights
- The Northwest Missouri State soccer team opened its 2015 campaign with a 1-1 draw with Wayne State.
- The game was played at the WSC Soccer Pitch in Wayne, Neb.
- 21 of the 24 players on this year's roster saw playing time in the contest, including the collegiate debuts for Sarah Tyler, Ashton Reuter and Payton McGee.

- Junior Jessica Breyfogle scored the first goal in her college career in the 32nd minute after a centering pass from senior Anna Holden.
- After conceding an early goal, sophomore Ashley Malloy rebounded to made seven saves.
- Northwest took 15 shots in the contest, nine of which were on goal. On the other end, the Wildcats attempted 17 shots with eight being on frame.
- Jessica Spradley and Katelynn Lindsey both put two shots on frame.
- Elizabeth Finn, Ashley Cole, Cassie Holtman and Sara Worsfold all added shots on goal for the Bearcats.
- The Bearcats took 12 corner kicks, including eight in the first half. Comparatively, Wayne State lined up for just four corners.
- Northwest was whistled for 15 fouls, one more than the Wildcats.
- This is only the third time in the program's 17 year history that the season begins with a draw. One of the previous occurences also came against Wayne State, a 2-2 tilt to start the 2005 season.
