Schieber's gem leads to sweep of Lincoln


Story Headlines
- The Northwest Missouri State softball team picked up a pair of conference victories over Lincoln on Friday afternoon in Maryville.
- After falling behind by two in the top of the seventh, the Bearcats rallied in the bottom of the inning to win game one, 4-3.
- The Bearcats scored in the first inning and never let up in game two, winning 8-0 in five innings.
- Northwest is now 11-15 on the year and 5-5 in conference play, while the Blue Tigers fall to 3-25 overall and 2-12 in the MIAA.
- Kendle Schieber threw a one-hit shutout in game two and finished the day 3-for-3 with four RBI and a home run at the dish.

Game One Key Statistics (Northwest 4, Lincoln 3)
- Kendle Schieber lifted a home run in her first at bat and reached on a pair of singles later in the game, scoring one run and driving in three more.
- Stephanie Mark reached base twice and scored a run.
- Baylee Scarbrough finished the game 1-for-2 with a single.
- After driving in a run with a single, catcher Jessica Rawie scored the winning run in the seventh.
- Sarah Baldwin made the start for the Bearcats, throwing 6 2/3 innings and surrendering one earned run. The junior struck out five Blue Tigers while walking one.
- Senior Paige Blythe came in to record the final out and earned the win after the Bearcats rallied in the bottom of the seventh.

Game One Key Innings
- Kendle Schieber helped the Bearcats jump out to an early 1-0 lead when she blasted a home run to left center in the third.
- An incredible diving catch by Torri Blythe helped keep the Blue Tigers off the board in the fifth inning.
- After Lincoln scored one in the sixth and two more in the seventh, Stephanie Mark started the Bearcat rally with a single to right field. Chantel Adams followed with a single of her own. Jessica Rawie knocked in Mark with a single down the left field line. Kendle Schieber ended the game with a walk-off single to right center, driving in Adams and Rawie.
 

Game Two Key Statistics (Northwest 8, Lincoln 0)
- After retiring the first 14 batters of the game, Kendle Schieber gave up the lone Blue Tiger hit of the game with two outs in the top of the fifth. The junior had three strikeouts in her first shutout of the season.
- Senior Stephanie Mark finished 2-for-3 with a double and two runs scored.
- Chantel Adams crushed her third home run of the season, driving in two runs.
- Center fielder Cassidy Lee scored a run and drove in another on a fourth inning single.
- Torri Blythe led off with a triple for the Bearcats, finishing with two runs scored.
- Freshman Jessica Rawie drilled a double down the left field line and finished with one RBI and one run scored.

Game Two Key Innings
- After hustling to third on a deep shot to left center, Torri Blythe scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the first.
- Jessica Rawie opened the second inning with a double and came in to score three batters later on Baylee Scarbrough's sacrifice fly.
- The Bearcats added two more in the third after Rebecca Maher started things off with a single to center. After Stephanie Mark reached on an error, Chantel Adams was hit by a pitch to load the bases. A pair of sacrifice flies from Rawie and Kendle Schieber drove in Maher and Mark.
- After Blythe reached on an error, Cassidy Lee drove her home with a single up the middle and later came in to score on a wild pitch. Following a Mark double to right center, Adams put the Bearcats up 8-0 with a home run to left center.

- The Bearcats will face off against Lindenwood on Saturday with the first pitch scheduled for noon.
