Key Northwest Innings- Northwest struck in the bottom of the first as as Gotta reached on a throwing error and moved to second on a Meyer single. With on outs, Johnson laid down a bunt and reached first safely to load the bases. Garber grounded out to first but scored Gotta from third to make it 1-0.
- In the third, Johnson reached on an error and went first to third on a Garber single. With runners on the corners, Pitt State had a wild pitch, scoring Johnson to make it 2-0.
- In the sixth, Johson singled to lead off and moved to third on another Garber single. Howard lifted a ball to right field, scoring Johnson on a sacrifice fly.
- Northwest got four runs in the eighth, starting with Meyer reachng on an error by the third baseman.
Aaron Barratt pinch ran and moved to second on a bunt from Johnson, who also reached safely. Garber picked up an RBI with a single to score Barratt. Howard sacrificed himself to put runners on second and third with one out. Greenslade grounded out to short, scoring Johnson, making it 5-0 Northwest with two outs. Wilkinson pinch hit for
James Holler and promptly delivered a two-run homer to left center, giving the Bearcats a 7-0 lead.
