Story Headlines- The Northwest Missouri State University baseball team split a Saturday doubleheader with Pittsburg State at Al Ortolani Field in Pittsburg, Kan.
- The Bearcats fell in game one, 5-3, but rebounded for a 9-3 win in the second game. Both contests were seven inning contests.
- Northwest is now 15-14 overall and 11-8 in MIAA play. The Gorillas are 8-18 overall and 4-11 in conference action.
 
Game One Key Northwest Statistics (Pittsburg State 5, Northwest 3)
- The Bearcats scored three runs on seven hits with an error. Northwest had single runs in the first, third and fifth innings.
- The Gorillas scored one in the first and had a four-run fifth inning to win the game. Pitt State had five runs on 11 hits.
- 
Joseph Hietpas started for Northwest, going 4.2 innings. He struck out five batters, walking just one. He allowed eight hits and five runs.
- 
Austin Battaglia pitched the final 1.1 innings, allowing three hits but no runs with a strikeout.
- 
Garrett Fort went 2-for-3 and scored two runs.
- 
Derek Meyer had a pair of RBI, going 1-for-4 in the game.

Paul Johnson was 1-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored.

Game One Key Northwest Innings- Northwest got on the board in the first inning as Johnson hit a two out homer to put the Bearcats up 1-0. It was Johnson's first home run of the season.
- Fort led off the third with a single and moved to second on an 
Austin Wulff sacrifice. Fort went to third on a Gotta groundout and scored with two outs on a  Meyer single to make it 2-1 Northwest.
- In the fifth, Fort reached on a bunt to lead off and was sacrificed to second by Wulff. Gotta hit an infield single to put runners on the corners. Still with one out, Meyer grounded into a fielders choice to score Fort from third to put Northwest up 3-1.
 
Game Two Key Northwest Statistics (Northwest 9, Pittsburg State 3)
- The Bearcats used a six-run second inning, a one run third inning and a two run seventh inning to win the second game of the day.
- Northwest scored nine runs on 12 hits but committed three errors.
- The Gorillas scored single runs in the third, fifth and sixth innings. Pitt State had three runs on six hits with one error.
- 
Brad Roberts went 5.1 innings, allowing just one earned run with a pair of strikeouts. He walked just one batter and allowed only four hits.
- 
Carson Smith worked finished the sixth and worked a scoreless seventh. He struck out two and did not issue a walk.
- Meyer and Garber each collected a pair of hits and a pair of RBI on the day. Meyer scored a run and also had a stolen base.
- Wulff was 2-for-3 with two runs scored, an RBI and a walk.
- 
Blake Hardegree got a hit in his only at bat, driving in two runs in the seventh.
- Greenslade was 1-for-2 with a pair of runs scored and a double.
- 
Luke Wilkinson hit a two-run homerun in the second inning.
- Gotta, Johnson and Fort all had base hits for the Bearcats.
Game Two Key Northwest Innings- The Bearcats exploded for six runs in the top of the second inning. Greenslade hit a one-out double to left center and Wilkinson tallied his second home run of season to put Northwest up 2-0. Fort singled through the right side and moved to second on a Wulff single. After Gotta walked to load the bases with one out, Meyer singled to left, scoiring Fort and Wulff. Gotta moved to second and advanced to third on a flyout to right. Meyer stole second to put runners on second and third with two outs. Garber hit a double dowin the right field line to score Meyer and Gotta, putting Northwest up 6-0.
- In the top of the third, Greenslade reached on an error, stole a base and scored on a Wulff single to put the Bearcats up 7-0.
- With two outs in the eighth, Fort walked and stole second. Wullf and Gotta both drew back-to-back walks to load the bases. Hardegree singled to left, scoring both Wulff and Fort to make it 9-3 Northwest.
