Key Northwest Sequences- After picking up the first two sets, Northwest battled tough with SBU in the third. Northwest fell behind 5-4 early in the third set but rallied to take an early lead. After an SBU service error to tie the match, 5-5, Northwest got a kill from Becker and went up by two after a bad set on SBU, 7-5. SBU was forced into an attacking error to make it 8-5 and Becker and Foster combined for a block to make it 9-5. Duren added a kill to make it 10-5 to cap the 6-0 Northwest run.
- Northwest earned a match point at 24-19 in the third but SBU battled back with a 5-0 run to tie it up, 24-24. After a Northwest timeout, Foster came up with a big kill from a Dannettell pass to make it 25-24. On Northwest's sixth match point, SBU hit into an attacking error to give Northwest the victory.
