Dorrel announces three additions to roster


MARYVILLE, Mo. - Northwest Missouri State University head football coach Adam Dorrel has announced the additions of three student-athletes to the 2015 roster. Max Moore (Walnut Creek, Calif.), Sam Williams (Seattle, Wash.) and Leondre "Dre" Washington (St. Louis, Mo.) have all enrolled at Northwest and will begin school during the 2015 spring semester. All three players attended junior college last season and are scheduled to participate in spring practice.

"All three of these young men are first class individuals on and off the field and are going to be welcome addtions to our program here at Northwest," said Dorrel. "I anticipate that they will come in and immediately compete for positions on our team and add to our depth. We are really looking forward to having them on campus and getting a chance to work with them."

Sam Williams is a 6-2 wide receiver who earned first team All-Califorinia Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) honors at the College of the Siskiyous in Weed, Calif. During his two-year career he caught 57 passes for 835 yards. He was also a first team All-Mid-Empire Conference performer and was a two time scholar athlete award recipient. Williams was a four-year prep standout at Evergreen High School in Vancouver, Wash.

Max Moore is a 6-4 offensive lineman who spent the last two seasons at City College of San Francisco. A former standout at Northgate High School, Moore was a first team All-Diablo Valley League performer as a senior. He earned all-area honors and was named to the Contra Costa all star team. In track and field, he won league titles in shot put and discus as a junior and again as a senior and was a state finalsist in both events in 2013.

Dre Washington is a 6-3 wide receiver who played last season at Diablo Valley College in Pleasant Hill, Calif. As a sophomore in 2014, Washington had 35 catches for 513 yards and six touchdowns in nine games. He earned second team all-conference honors as a kick returner in his freshman season with 26 returns for 539 yards and four touchdowns. A standout for Ladue Horton Watkins High School, Washington earned honorable mention all-state accolades and was a two time first team All-Suburban East Conference performer, catching 30 passes for 516 yards and 11 touchdowns.
