WARRENSBURG, Mo.-Northwest Missouri State held Central Missouri to a season-low 49 points and got 13 points and eight rebounds from Matt Withers to earn a 59-49 win at UCM''s Multipurpose Building Saturday. It''s the fewest points scored by the Mules in their six seasons under coach Kim Anderson.

Northwest (15-6, 7-5 MIAA) swept Central Missouri (13-8, 6-6) for the second time in five seasons and earned its first win in Warrensburg since 2004. Both teams tied for an MIAA championship last year.

Andy Peterson hit a deep, running 3-pointer with the shot clock winding down on the Bearcats'' first possession of the game. The Mules trailed the rest of the way.

The Bearcats hit six of their nine 3-pointers in the first half and took a 10-point lead into the break. Hunter Henry and Lance Sullivan hit two 3''s each in the frame and had eight points by halftime.

The Mules shot 34 percent in the contest and had 22 first-half points. Nathan Frazier came off the bench to lead Central with 15 points. Joe Young added 12.

Withers tipped in the first miss of the second half to give Northwest its largest lead at 34-22. The lead hovered between 10 and five points the rest of the way.

When the Mules did get within five, they were answered right away. Elijah Allen finished a fast-break layup on one possession. Eddie Gray hit a 3 on another. Withers capped the night with an emphatic dunk and hit the free throw for a three-point play. The Bearcats made their last six free throws and were 14 of 18 from the stripe in the game.

Sullivan, who had a career-best 28 points in a double-overtime victory against Emporia State Thursday, had 10 Saturday. Henry finished with eight points and six rebounds. Peterson and Gray chipped in nine points each.
