Calbert, Team USA Advance to IFAF Championship

KAWASAKI, Japan - Former Northwest Missouri State football player Diezeas Calbert blocked two punts to help Team USA beat Germany, 33-7, today at the third International Federation of American Football (IFAF) World Championship.

The United States (2-0) advances to the title game against tournament-host Japan (2-0) Sunday at 1:10 a.m. CST. Live scoring updates of that contest will be available at usafootball.com.

The IFAF World Championship, a global tournament held every four years, consists of six national teams in 2007: France, Germany, Japan, Korea, Sweden and the United States, respectively. Team USA is managed by USA Football.

The United States beat Korea 77-0 in its opening game Tuesday. Japan, which has won the previous two IFAF World Championships, defeated both France and Sweden by identical scores of 48-0.

Team USA, led by veteran coach John Mackovic, has yet to surrender a point on defense. Germany''s lone score came on a 94-yard interception return.
