Northwest Missouri State University track & field head coach Brandon Masters has added Cody Ingold to the Bearcat staff as an assistant coach.
“I’m very happy to have someone of impeccable character, unmatched experience and technical aptitude join the Bearcat family,” Masters said. “Cody has a skill set that complements mine and I am looking forward to building our team with him. I’ve watched the success he’s had in the MIAA and I am excited to get the opportunity to coach with him.”
Ingold said he cannot wait to get started at Northwest.
“I’m incredibly excited to join the Bearcat family and contribute to the proud tradition of excellence at Northwest Missouri State University,” Ingold said. “Coach Masters and his staff have built a culture of hard work and success. I look forward to supporting our student-athletes as they grow both on and off the track. It’s an honor for my family and I to be part of a team that’s committed to developing champions in competition, in the classroom and in life.”
Ingold produced 33 national qualifiers, 28 NCAA Div. II All-Americans and eight MIAA champions at Missouri Western. Ingold had served as the MoWest head track & field/cross country coach since 2019 and had been the Griffons’ first assistant coach in program history in 2017 prior to taking over the head job in St. Joseph, Mo.
In 2024-25, Ingold helped MWSU produce two NCAA Div. II outdoor All-America performances as Makenzie Garr and Lucas Trotter gained the honors in their respective shot put events. Allyssa Mahone secured All-America accolades in the weight throw at the 2025 NCAA Div. II indoor national championships in Indianapolis. Ingold also saw Garr and Mahone notch Academic All-America status in 2024-25.
Ingold came to MWSU from St. Gregory University in Shawnee, Okla. At St. Gregory, he was the head men's cross country for three seasons and head men's track coach for two. He also assisted with both women's programs. Under his guidance, the Cavaliers had 13 national qualifiers, three all-conference athletes, one All-American, and one NAIA national champion.
Before SGU, Ingold was an assistant coach at William Penn University in Oskaloosa, Iowa, Doane College in Crete, Neb., and Dana College in Blair, Neb. He worked with 84 all-conference performers, 31 conference champions, six All-Americans, two national runner-up finishes and two national champions.
Ingold graduated from Doane College in 2009 with a bachelor's degree in physical education. As a member of the Tiger track program, he was a team captain, a seven-time national qualifier in the multi-events and 4x400 relay, and a two-time NAIA All-American in the 4x400 relay. He was also honored with the 2009 NAIA Individual Champion of Character award.
He and his wife, Alice, are the parents of Oliver and Adelyn.
Ingold is taking over for Nikki Segrest, who was named the head track and field coach at Missouri S&T in Rolla, Mo., earlier this summer.
