Mayes is a senior transfer from Henderson State. Mayes averaged 11.3 points per game and 5.1 rebounds per game for the Reddies in 2024-25. He scored a season-high 22 points at Northwestern Oklahoma State on Feb. 6, 2025. Mayes ranked No. 17 in the nation with 70 steals in 2024-25. Mayes was on the roster at Cal St.-Dominguez in 2023-24 but did not see action. He played the 2022-23 season at Western Washington University, where he appeared in 23 games and averaged 3.4 points and 1.5 rebounds per game. Mayes scored a season-high 15 points vs. Alaska-Anchorage on Feb. 11, 2023. Mayes began his collegiate career at West LA College where he was named the conference’s co-defensive player of the year as his squad went 28-4 and reached the California State semifinals. Mayes played his prep career at Westchester High School in Inglewood, Calif.
