Elizabeth (Hevern) Thieman is an assistant athletic trainer at Northwest Missouri State University. She serves as the head athletic trainer for the Bearcat football team.

Thieman manages and oversees the summer camp programs at Northwest and works together with Gatorade to provide products to those participants. She also coordinates and manages the medical coverage for the Special Olympics Basketball Tournament held on campus in January.

She is originally from New York and graduated from the University of Connecticut with her bachelor’s degree in athletic training in 2014. She then sought out her master’s degree in applied health and sport science with a concentration in wellness at Northwest.

She gained graduate assistant experience by working with women’s soccer, track and field, football and women’s basketball. She was a member of the sports medicine staff for the 2015 national championship Football team.

After graduating from Northwest, she returned to UConn for a one-year athletic training residency working with the football and men’s and women’s swimming and diving programs. There, she was able to work closely with different orthopedic specialists and have training in a number of different therapy techniques and modalities. She holds a certification in integrative dry needling and has had experience in soft tissue mobilization and rehabilitation therapies.

Since returning to Maryville, she has become involved in the community as a Big for the Big Brothers/Big Sisters organization. She is enjoying her time back at Northwest and is always ready to provide exceptional care to the Bearcat student-athletes.

She and her husband, Jamie, reside in Maryville.
