BLUE SPRINGS, Mo. – The Northwest Missouri State University women's golf team got its season underway Tuesday with the opening round of the 36-hole Central Region Fall Preview.
 
The tournament is taking place at Adams Pointe GCS in Blue Springs, Mo. The course is playing a par-72 measuring 5,920 yards. The opening round is Tuesday with the final round set for Wednesday.
 
The Bearcats shot 321 (+33) for a team scoring in Tuesday's opening round. Northwest is in 13th place in the 16-team field after day one.
 
Lauren Briggs tallied the low score of the day for the Bearcats with a first-round 75. Briggs secured 13 pars and a birdie on the par-3 eighth hole for her 3-over round. Her 13 pars tied for the fifth most in the 89-player field.
 
Lexi Bartley shot 78 with 12 pars and a birdie. Bartley posted her birdie on the par-5 ninth hole.
 
Clara Peake led the Bearcats with two birdies in her opening round. Peake shot a 79 with birdies at the par-4 first hole and at the par-4 13th hole.
