TOPEKA, Kan. – The No. 25-ranked Washburn Ichabods posted a pair of second-half goals to gain a 2-0 victory over the Northwest Missouri State University women's soccer team Sunday at Yager Stadium.

The Ichabods improved to 7-1-1 and 3-1-0 in MIAA play, while the Bearcats slipped to 1-7-1 and 1-3-0 in league action.
Northwest was limited to three shots, one on goal, while the Ichabods finished with 19 shots and five on frame.
Despite Washburn taking eight shots, Northwest kept the first half scoreless, with goalkeeper
Taryn Lewis recording two saves. Lewis turned away Grace Peterson's low attempt early, and Northwest generated its first set-piece chance with a corner before the 20-minute mark. The key defensive stretch came from 25:43 to 30:40, when the Bearcats faced five Ichabods attacking actions — including four shots and a corner — and came through still at 0-0 after Lewis saved Avery McCorry's attempt. Northwest earned another corner at 31:29, then finished the half without conceding as WU put two late shots off target and was flagged offside once.
After the break, Northwest spent the second half chasing the match after WU scored at 46:21, with Leah Henke finishing off an Avery McCorry assist to make it 1-0. Northwest absorbed a stretch of Ichabods pressure from 50:37 through 61:19, allowing five shots and a corner during that span while keeping the margin at one, and
Julia Coacher put a shot over the top at 59:27. WU added to the lead at 65:49 on a Bricelyn Betts goal assisted by McCorry, making it 2-0. Lewis made a save on Betts at 74:04, and Northwest generated late looks from
Emily Woelk and
Lydia McVey, but the Ichabods held the 2-0 score through full time.
Lewis played all 90 minutes in goal and finished with three saves. McVey recorded Northwest's lone shot on goal.
