The Northwest Missouri State University women's soccer team will travel to the state of Kansas for a pair of MIAA matchups this weekend against Newman and No. 25-ranked Washburn.
 
The Bearcats will take on the Newman Jets Friday at 3 p.m. at Wilkins Field in Wichita, Kan. Sunday will take the Bearcats to Yager Stadium in Topeka, Kan., to battle the No. 25-ranked Washburn Ichabods.
 
Northwest is 8-2-1 all-time vs. Newman. The Bearcats have defeated the Jets in five straight matchups. Northwest has not given up a goal in those five matchups all while out-scoring the Jets 12-0 in that five-game stretch.
 
Washburn leads the all-time series against Northwest, 17-10-5.  Northwest is 5-2-1 vs. Washburn in the teams' last eight matchups. The Ichabods have won two straight in the series with back-to-back 2-0 wins in each of the last two seasons.
 
The Bearcats are amid a seven-match winless streak (0-6-1). Northwest has scored four goals in this seven-game stretch, while allowing 12 goals.
 
Four different Bearcats have scored all four of Northwest's goals this season. Ximena Arnau, Julia Coacher, Mackenzie Jordan and Lillie Shaw have each found the back of the net once this season for the 'Cats.
 
Junior Julia Coacher scored her first career goal in a 2-1 loss at Central Oklahoma (Sept. 20).
 
Sophomore Mackenzie Jordan tallied her first goal of the season and second career goal in a 2-1 setback at home vs. Northeastern State (Sept. 18).
 
Junior Lillie Shaw has taken a team-high 12 shots with eight of them on goal. Shaw scored a goal against Maryville that allowed the Bearcats and Saints to tie, 1-1, on Sept. 3.

Senior Ximena Arnau connected on a penalty kick for Northwest's goal at Bemidji State. Arnau is 3-of-4 on penalty kicks in her Bearcat career. Arnau has tallied 11 career goals in her four seasons donning the Green and White. Arnau has gained eight career assists to tie for No. 8 all-time in program history. Arnau is tied for 10th on Northwest's all-time points list. Arnau was a second-team all-MIAA pick in 2025.

Northwest was picked to finish sixth in the 2026 MIAA Women's Soccer Preseason Coaches Poll. The Bearcats placed fifth last year in the MIAA race with a mark of 7-4-1 in league play.

Head coach Marc Gordon has served as the program's leader since the 2018 season. Gordon is the only coach in Bearcat history with a winning record (59-60-22). Gordon's teams have been productive in the MIAA with a 38-32-11 mark in conference matches. Gordon was the 2021 MIAA Coach of the Year and led the Bearcats to their only NCAA Tournament bids in 2021 and 2022.
 
Gordon has led Northwest to six consecutive MIAA Tournament appearances. Gordon has helped guide Northwest to five consecutive winning seasons. Prior to Gordon taking over, Northwest had four winning seasons in program history.
