Lauren Briggs is tied for first following the opening round of the MSSU Women's Fall Invite held at Twin Hills Country Club.

Briggs secured six birdies on the day and shot a first-round score of 2-under 70. Briggs caught fire with three straight birdies on holes six through eight. Her six birdies led the 54-player field. She was four-under on the par-five holes to lead the field as well.

The Bearcats posted a team score of 307 (+19) on day one of the 36-hole event. The Bearcats sit in third place in the team standings following the opening round. Northwest had the most birdies by a team in the first round with 15. Washburn was second with 14 birdies. Washburn leads the team race with a score of 1-under, 287. Arkansas Tech is second at 297 (+9).

Lexi Bartley and
Carleigh Reoh each shot rounds of 6-over 78 to tie for 17th after the first round. Barley and Reoh each tallied one birdie in the opening round.

Wildah Jarestam made her Bearcat debut and collected four birdies as she shot a 9-over 81. Jarestam is tied for No. 27 after 18 holes.

Clara Peake secured three birdies and shot 82 in the first round. Peake is tied for No. 34 in the individual standings.
