The Northwest Missouri State University women's soccer team will be in action at home Saturday at 11 a.m. against No. 14-ranked Pittsburg State at the Bearcat Pitch.
 
The soccer match will lead into the Northwest football home opener set for 1:30 p.m. at Bearcat Stadium. Fans attending the Pittsburg State at Northwest Missouri State soccer match can park in the Hughes Fieldhouse parking lot #62 and pay $10 or they can choose to park in the north lot by the Bearcat softball field free of charge. The soccer match will begin at 11 a.m. and the Bearcat football tailgate parking lots will open at 9:30 a.m.
 
The Bearcats have begun the season at 0-3-1 and have only allowed five goals in four matches. Northwest has generated two goals in its first four matches.
 
Pittsburg State is 4-0 and has outscored its opposition 16-0 in its five matches. The Gorillas have wins over No. 9 UMSL (W, 5-0), East Central (W, 6-0), Quincy (W, 1-0), Southern Nazarene (W, 1-0) and Southwest Baptist (W, 3-0).
 
The Gorillas hold a 2-0 lead in the all-time series with the Bearcats. The Gorillas have won a pair of 1-0 matches in each of the past two seasons. Saturday's match will be an in-region matchup but will not count as an MIAA match.
 
Senior Ximena Arnau connected on a penalty kick for Northwest's goal at Bemidji State. Arnau is 3-of-4 on penalty kicks in her Bearcat career. Arnau has tallied 11 career goals in her four seasons donning the Green and White. Arnau has gained eight career assists to tie for No. 8 all-time in program history. Arnau is tied for 10th on Northwest's all-time points list. Arnau was a second-team all-MIAA pick in 2025.

Northwest was picked to finish sixth in the 2026 MIAA Women's Soccer Preseason Coaches Poll. The Bearcats placed fifth last year in the MIAA race with a mark of 7-4-1 in league play.

Head coach Marc Gordon has served as the program's leader since the 2018 season. Gordon is the only coach in Bearcat history with a winning record (59-57-22). Gordon's teams have been productive in the MIAA with a 38-30-11 mark in conference matches. Gordon was the 2021 MIAA Coach of the Year and led the Bearcats to their only NCAA Tournament bids in 2021 and 2022.
 
Gordon has led Northwest to six consecutive MIAA Tournament appearances. Gordon has helped guide Northwest to five consecutive winning seasons. Prior to Gordon taking over, Northwest had four winning seasons in program history.
