KINGSVILLE, Texas – The No. 8-ranked Northwest Missouri State University football team produced a defensive gem and lit up the scoreboard with 48 points in roasting the Texas A&M-Kingsville Javelinas to open the 2026 season with a road victory, 48-3.
 
A 94-yard pick-six from Jackson Torry and a 100-yard, three-rushing touchdown performance from Te'Shaun Porter allowed the Bearcats to secure a 45-point triumph over the Javelinas. The Bearcat defense limited the Javelinas to 10 first downs and only 179 total yards offense. Kingsville rushed for 80 yards and threw for 99.
 
The Bearcats generated 476 yards of total offense with 244 on the ground and 232 through the air.
 
 
A 94-yard interception return for a touchdown by Jackson Torry provided the first score of the season for the Bearcats. Torry gave Northwest a 7-0 lead with 3:55 left in the first quarter. It was his first career interception.
 
A 22-yard field goal from  Mo Alwaely gave Northwest a 10-0 lead with 2:44 left in the second quarter. The short field was set up by an interception from Antwon Jenkins Jr. at the nine-yard line. It is Alwaely's 24th career made field goal and fifth as a Bearcat. It was Jenkins's third career pick as a Bearcat.
 
With 11:43 left in the second quarter, Te'Shaun Porter gave Northwest a 17-0 lead following a one-yard touchdown run. It was Porter's ninth career rushing touchdown at Northwest.
 
Texas A&M-Kingsville took advantage of an interception from Mason Shorb by scoring a field goal with 4:54 left in the second quarter. Daniel Guana drilled a 36-yard field goal to cut the Northwest lead to 17-3.
 
Quincy Torry got into the scoring act with a two-yard touchdown run with 1:17 left in the second quarter. Torry's score handed Northwest a 24-3 advantage. It was Torry's seventh career rushing score as a Bearcat.
 
The Bearcats marched down the field to begin the second half and capped it as Porter scored on a nine-yard touchdown run. It was a nine-play, 75-yard drive as the Bearcats received the second-half kickoff. Porter's score gave Northwest a 31-3 lead with 10:49 left in the third quarter. It was the third time in Porter's career that he has scored multiple rushing touchdowns in a game.
 
Porter secured his third rushing touchdown of the game on a one-yard score with 6:42 left in the third quarter. Porter's score lifted Northwest to a 38-3 lead. It was the first three-touchdown game of Porter's Bearcat career.
 
Alwaely added his second field goal of the game with 12:09 left in the fourth quarter. Alwaely's triple gave Northwest a 41-3 advantage.
 
Jaron Cannon Jr. found the end zone with a 27-yard burst through the Javelina defense for the final score of the game. Cannon Jr.'s score with 2:44 left in the game gave Northwest a decisive lead at 48-3.
 
Northwest will be off next week before opening its home schedule Sept. 12 at 1:30 p.m. against the Washburn Ichabods.
