MANKATO, Minn. - The Minnesota State University Mavericks gained a 2-0 exhibition victory over the Northwest Missouri State University women's soccer team.
The Mavericks tallied a pair of second-half goals to slip past the Bearcats. Minnesota State's Amara Smith posted the first goal of the exhibition matchup 3:42 into the second half. Minnesota State's Maddix Archer found the net with a penalty kick at the 17:05 mark of the second half to gain the 2-0 advantage.
Northwest put up 15 shots to 13 shots for Minnesota State. The Mavericks had eight shots on-goal, while the Bearcats had six on-goal.Â

Leyah Scott did not allow a goal in her 25 minutes of play.
Addison Fischer produced a team-best three shots.

Izzie Miller each fired two shots at the Mavericks.
The Bearcats will have another home exhibition match Saturday, Aug. 22, at 11:30 a.m. vs. William Jewell. Northwest's regular season opener is set for Friday, Aug. 28, at Northern State at 12 p.m.
