PITTSBURG, Kan. – The Northwest Missouri State University track and field squads finished the MIAA Championships strong, with seven individual event titles, four new school records, a meet record broken and top-three finishes for both men's and women's teams.

Both the Bearcat men (116 points) and women (123 points) claimed third-place team finishes. The top spots for both men's and women's divisions were occupied by Pittsburg State in first, and Missouri Southern in second.

Drew Atkins headlined the men's 5,000-meter run, claiming the conference crown and shattering the MIAA Championship meet record.

Kiki Witt continued her dominant streak by capturing her second event title of the weekend in the women's 5,000-meter run, etching her name into Northwest's all-time record books with her performance.

Both the women's 4x100m and men's 4x400m relay squads shattered school records to secure runner-up finishes. To cap off the championships, the women's 4x400m relay team claimed the conference title and set a new facility record.

Before claiming a title in the 4x400 meter relay,
Melanie Roland claimed the individual 400-meter crown. Her performance set a new facility record and reset her own time in the school record books.

Northwest completed a sweep of the 800-meter conference titles as
Riley Witt captured the men's crown and
Marie Dea secured the women's victory.

Kendall Tietjen added to the Bearcat title haul by capturing the conference crown in the women's 400-meter hurdles.

Krysta Abel improved upon her qualifying time, claiming a new Div. II provisional time of 11.56, and capturing the third-best time in the school record books. Abel set a new personal best. Juniors

Hallie Henfling also secured sixth overall in the 200-meter dash and earned the ninth-best time in school history with a personal best mark of 24.12.

Truman Hare smashed the school record in the men's 400-meter dash with a new provisional time of 45.90, which earned him a third-place finish. Senior
Logan Arellano crossed the finish line with a new provisional time of 47.06 and claimed eighth place in the event – resetting his own sixth-fastest-time in school history. Both Hare and Arellano claimed personal best records.Â

Melanie Roland captured the event crown in the women's 400-meter dash with a new provisional time of 52.15. Roland's time beat out her own second-fastest mark in school history and set the new Russ Jewett Outdoor Track & Field Complex facility record in the event. Sophomore
Kennedi Cline claimed a new provisional time of 53.57, securing her a runner-up finish and the fifth-fastest time in the Northwest record books. Both Roland and Cline earned personal best times.

Riley Witt secured the event title in the men's 800-meter run with a provisional time of 1:49.73.
Aziz Mohammed (1:50.80),
Josh Fraker (1:51.67), and
Maxime Touron (1:51.74) captured third, fourth, and fifth respectively.Â

Marie Dea claimed the event crown in the women's 800-meter run with a provisional time of 2:10.89. Junior
Jadyn Barnes placed third with a time of 2:12.33 along with senior

Frank Sparks earned a provisional time of 14.20 and placed fourth overall.
