PITTSBURG, Kan. – The Northwest Missouri State University track and field teams shattered an MIAA Championship meet record, reset two school records, and qualified nine additional athletes for Sunday's finals during Day 2 of the MIAA Outdoor Championships.

Kiki Witt stole the spotlight by shattering the MIAA Championship meet record and the Northwest school record in the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase to capture the event title. Both records were previously held by former Bearcat athlete Caroline Cunningham.
In the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase,
Barnabe Gabillet secured a podium finish for the 'Cats, claiming third place overall.
On the track,
Riley Witt lowered his own school record in the men's 800-meter run for the second time this season while clocking the top qualifying time heading into the finals.

Running Events
(W) 200-meter Prelims: Junior
Hallie Henfling claimed a qualifying time of 24.74, securing sixth place in the prelims.
Jaurdin Mallory placed 10th with a time of 24.92. Henfling is scheduled to run in the finals tomorrow at 5:10 p.m.
(M) 800-meter Prelims:
Riley Witt broke his own school record for the second time this season with a new Div. II provisional time of 1:48.07 and placed first. Witt also broke the Russ Jewett Outdoor Track & Field Complex facility record for the 800-meter run. Coming in behind Witt was
Aziz Mohammed with a second-place finish with a time of 1:50.89 – earning him the eighth-fastest time in the Northwest record books.
Maxime Touron (1:50.93),
Josh Fraker (1:50.96), and
Christian Lanphier (1:51.99) claimed fifth, seventh, and 10th, respectively. Fraker set a new personal best along with the 10th-fastest 800-meter time in school history. Witt, Mohammed, Touron, and Fraker all qualified to run in the finals which are set for 4:15 p.m. tomorrow.

Jadyn Barnes crossed the finish line with a qualifying time of 2:13.84 and earned a second-place finish. Sophomore
Marie Dea (2:16.89) and senior
Lydia McGlocklin (2:16.91) both qualified for finals by earning third and sixth respectively. The finals are scheduled for tomorrow at 4:25 p.m.
(M) 110-meter Hurdle Prelims:
Frank Sparks secured a fifth-place finish with a new provisional time of 14.11 – beating his own third-fastest time in school history. Sparks is scheduled to run in the finals tomorrow at 3:05 p.m.
(M) 3,000-meter Steeplechase: Senior
Barnabe Gabillet captured a third-place finish for the 'Cats with a Div. II provisional time of 9:04.56.

Kiki Witt captured the event title along with breaking the MIAA Championship meet record and the Northwest school record in the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase, with a new Div. II provisional time of 10:24.67. Witt also broke the Russ Jewett Outdoor Track & Field Complex facility record. Junior
Mayson Hartley also secured a podium finish by placing third overall with a new personal best time of 11:05.29- beating her own seventh-fastest time in school history.

Jeremiah Rainey-Dunlap placed 10th with a jump of 2.01m (6-7.25).
(M) Discus Throw: Freshman
Ethan Gaschler placed eighth overall and secured a Div. II provisional mark of 51.23m (168-1.00).

Northwest will be back in action for the final day of the MIAA Championships tomorrow, Sunday, May 3 in Pittsburg, Kan. Field events are scheduled to start at 11 a.m., with running events set to begin at 2 p.m.
