Spectators may park in the lots surrounding the complex. Teams are encouraged to arrive early each day to allow for traffic around campus and other university activities.
For the first time in 23 years and only the 10th time in program history, the Northwest Missouri State University baseball team will compete in the NCAA Division II Tournament.

The No. 29-ranked Bearcats (36-16 overall) procured the No. 4 seed in the Central Region and will match up against No. 5 seed Augustana (41-13 overall) in their opening round game Thursday at 6 p.m. at Al Ortolani Field in Pittsburg, Kan.

No. 3-ranked Pittsburg State (43-9 overall) is the No. 1 seed in the Central Region. The Gorillas will take on No. 8 seed Arkansas Tech (35-20) in their opening round game Thursday at 3 p.m.

Northwest and Augustana have met eight times with the series tied at 4-4. The last series between Northwest and Augie came April 3-4, 2009, in Maryville, Mo. It will be the first meeting between the Bearcats and Vikings on a neutral field.

Northwest owns a 9-7 lead in the all-time series with Arkansas Tech. The last meeting with Northwest and Arkansas Tech came Feb. 13, 2016, when the Bearcats prevailed 11-3. Northwest is 2-0 all-time vs. Arkansas Tech in neutral field matchups.

Northwest is 3-1 vs. Pittsburg State this season having swept the Gorillas in Maryville, Mo., March 27-29. PSU leads the all-time series, 58-48.

The NCAA championship provides for a field of 64 teams. Four teams will participate at each of 16 regional sites in a double elimination tournament. The 16 teams advancing from regional competition will participate in a two-team, best-of-three super regional at eight sites (May 21-23). The winners of the Super Regional series will advance to the NCAA Div. II Baseball Championship in Cary, N.C., May 29-June 6. The finals will include the eight super regional winners. The national champion will be determined in a best-of-three final series.

Northwest has an all-time NCAA Div. II Tournament record of 11-18. The Bearcats have competed in the NCAA Tournament in 1973, 1975, 1978, 1979, 1980, 1982, 1983, 1989 and 2003. Northwest advanced past the regional round in 1975 to the NCAA Baseball Championship Series in Springfield, Ill.

Fritts owns a perfect 4.0 grade point average as an agricultural marketing major with 93 credits completed at the university. Fritts has made 12 appearances this season with 13.2 innings pitched. He worked a 1-2-3 ninth inning for the victory … on Sunday, De Santiago tied a season-high with three innings of relief work and gained the win when Northwest walked off a 9-8 triumph in the 11th inning … allowed a run in the ninth with two outs to allowed Pitt State to force extra innings … he worked around a double in the 10th but kept the Gorillas scoreless in the 10th and 11th before the Bearcats walked off another win in the bottom of the 11th to complete a three-game sweep … picked up a win and a save in a doubleheader at UAFS … UAFS staged a comeback in the eighth, scoring four runs, yet Northwest Missouri State preserved its lead at 11-10 … De Santiago closed out the game, securing the victory … De Santiago entered in the eighth with the tying run and third and he recorded a strikeout … UAFS loaded the bases in the ninth with no outs before De Santiago collected three consecutive strikeouts to secure his fourth save of the season.
