Bearcats sit in 4th, three shots out of the lead at MIAA Golf Championship

WARRENSBURG, Mo. – The Northwest Missouri State University women's golf team is three shots out of first place after day one of the 2026 MIAA Championships held at Mules National Golf Club.
 
The Bearcats are in fourth place after an opening round of 309. Nebraska-Kearney and Central Missouri are tied in first place at 306 and Central Oklahoma is in third place at 309.
 
Lexi Bartley fired an opening-round 74 (+4) and is tied for second in the field. Bartley tallied a birdie on the par-4, 16th hole as she shot 39 on the front and 35 on the back.
 
Lauren Briggs is also in the top-10 after the first round with a score of 76 (+6). Briggs is tied for sixth as she had 12 pars and six bogeys Monday.
 
Clara Peake is tied for 26th after 18 holes. Peake shot a 79 (+9) that featured two birdies at No. 6 and No. 17. Peake finished her round strong by going 1-under on her final four holes after a triple-bogey at No. 12 and a double-bogey at No. 13 tried to derail her round.
 
Shaylee Ficken is tied for 30th with a first-round score of 80 (+10). Ficken landed a birdie at the par-3 No. 11 hole.
