The nationally-ranked Northwest Missouri State University tennis teams will travel to Kansas this weekend to take on the Emporia State Hornets and the Washburn Ichabods.
The No. 42-ranked Bearcat women are 14-3 overall and 5-1 in MIAA action. The Bearcats are a perfect 9-0 in road matches this season.
Washburn is ranked No. 18 in the nation with a 13-3 overall record and a 4-1 mark in MIAA play. The Ichabods are 5-0 at home this season.
Emporia State is 8-8 overall and 2-3 in MIAA play. The Hornets are 5-2 at home this year.
Polina Gontaryk will take a 13-match singles' winning streak into the matches against Washburn and Emporia State. Gontaryk has posted a singles' mark of 14-3 overall. She is 12-1 at No. 5 singles.
Majra Djokic is 11-5 at No. 2 singles and 12-6 overall this season.
Chiharu Ito is 13-2 at No. 3 singles.
The 50-ranked Northwest men are 10-7 overall and 2-1 in MIAA duals.
The No. 9-ranked Washburn Ichabods have won eight straight dual matches and are 13-5 overall and 4-0 in MIAA action. The Ichabods are 4-0 at home this year. The Ichabod roster features five ranked singles players in Pavlos Parson (No. 36), Tommaso Cecchetti (No. 40), Kilian Martinez (No. 45), Zinovii Nahirniak (No. 73) and Yuto Miyagawa (No. 74). Washburn also possesses two ranked doubles pairings in Ninovii Nahirniak/Benjamin Fock (No. 8) and Tommaso Cecchetti/Pavlos Parson (No. 48).
Emporia State is 8-7 overall and 2-1 in MIAA play. The Hornets are 2-2 at home this season.
The Northwest men are led by
Pavlo Vysotin's 14-4 mark in singles' play. Vysotin is 12-3 at No. 2 singles. Vysotin has won four straight matches entering Saturday's match at Washburn.
Bernardo Henriques is in the midst of a six-match winning streak in singles' play. Henriques is 12-7 on the season.
Konstantin Feiel is 13-4 overall and 7-0 at No. 4 singles.
The pairing of Vyostin and
Gage Foltz are 6-0 at No. 3 doubles. The No. 2 duo of Henriques and
Jules Subra are 3-3 and have won four straight matches. The Bearcats have won the doubles' point in four straight matches. Northwest has captured the doubles' point in six matches this season, while the opponent gained it in 11 matches.
