Dix captures steeplechase event crown at UCM Mule Relays day two

WARRENSBURG, Mo. – The Northwest Missouri State University track and field squads finished out the second day of the UCM Kip and Kirk Outdoor Mule Relays hosted by the University of Central Missouri on Friday.
 
Running Events
(M) 3000-meter Steeplechase: Elijah Dix captured the event crown with a new personal best time of 9:49.85.
 
Field Events
(M) Shot Put: Sophomore Demarii Williams secured fifth place overall with a new personal best of 16.36m (53-8.25) – tying him for the ninth-farthest men's shot put in school history. 
 
Unattached freshman Tyrus Smith claimed fourth with a throw of 16.39m (53-9.25). Had Smith been attached he would have earned the ninth-farthest throw in school history.
 
(M) Discus Throw: With a throw of 45.92m (150-8), Demarii Williams placed 15th overall and set a new personal best. 
 
Unattached freshman Tyrus Smith claimed tenth with a throw of 48.81m (160-2).
 
(W) Discus Throw: Freshman Jordyn Matiyow claimed 19th place with a throw of 36.75m (120-7).

Northwest track and field will take its talents to the Arkansas Spring Invitational hosted by University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Ark., tomorrow, April 11.
