Bearcat Gatherings
Hosted by the Northwest Missouri State University Alumni Association, The Quaff Bar & Grill, 1010 Broadway Blvd, is where Bearcat fans will gather for pre and post-game events. On Friday, March 6, the gathering will be held from 10:30-11:30 a.m. prior to the women's game. These events are free to Northwest fans of all ages. Complimentary chips and salsa and a cash bar will be available.  

THIS WEEK'S ACTION
The Northwest Missouri State University women's basketball squad will compete in the 2026 MIAA Tournament set for March 4-8 at Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City, Mo.
    Northwest is the No. 5 seed in the field and will take on No. 4 seed Missouri Southern Friday at noon. The winner of the Northwest-Missouri Southern game will advance to Saturday's first semifinal set for noon.
    The MIAA Championship game is Sunday at 1 p.m.

31ST MIAA TOURNAMENT
APPEARANCE FOR THE 'CATS
Northwest will be making its 31st MIAA Tournament appearance. The Bearcats are 18-27 overall in MIAA Tournament play.
    Northwest has captured three MIAA Tournament titles - 2004, 2008, 2011. Northwest also reached the first title game in 1983 to give the Bearcats four championship game appearances.

NORTHWEST VS. MISSOURI SOUTHERN
Northwest scored a 65-60 win at Missouri Southern in the only matchup this season.
    Missouri Southern holds a 38-32 lead in the all-time series with Northwest. Northwest has won four of the last five meetings.
    Missouri Southern scored a 59-50 victory over Northwest in a first-round matchup at the 2025 MIAA Tournament.

ANOTHER LONG WIN STREAK
Northwest has put together winning streaks this year of eight games and seven games.
    They are the longest win streaks for the Bearcats since an 11-game win streak in the 2010-11 season. The Bearcats won 11 consecutive games in the 2010-11 season (Dec. 8, 2010 - Jan. 26, 2011).
    The school record for consecutive wins is 20 in a row to begin the 1983-84 season (Nov. 18, 1983 - Feb. 1, 1984).

MAAS NAMED MIAA DEFENSIVE POY
Northwest Missouri State University sophomore forward Sadie Maas has been named the MIAA's Women's Basketball Defensive Player of the Year.
    Maas (Waukee, Iowa) ranks No. 2 in the MIAA in blocked shots (72) and No. 4 in the league in total rebounds (240). Maas produced five double-doubles and a triple-double this year. She had a 17-point, 18-rebound, 11-block effort at Missouri Southern to highlight her season.
    She is only the second Bearcat to take home the MIAA Defensive Player of the Year award. Kyla Roehrig was named the league's top defensive player in the 2010-11 season.

SADIE NAMED TO ALL DEFENSIVE TEAM
Sadie Maas was also tabbed as a member of the MIAA's All-Defensive Team. She was also named an honorable mention all-MIAA selection. Maas collected nine games of 10 or more rebounds. She blocked at least one shot in 28 of 29 games played.

MAAS, BIRMINGHAM SECURE HONORABLE MENTION ALL-MIAA HONORS
Northwest sophomore Sadie Maas and freshman Bailey Birmingham were named honorable mention all-MIAA.
    Birmingham gained honorable mention all-MIAA status. Birmingham led the Bearcats in scoring at 12.1 points per game. She knocked down a team-best 67 three-pointers, which ranks second in the MIAA. Birmingham tops the MIAA in three-point field goal percentage (37.2%). She scored in double figures in 18 games, including a season-high 25 points against Arkansas-Fort Smith (Feb. 21).

STANLEY AS A STARTER
Head coach Austin Meyer inserted Brooklyn Stanley into the starting lineup Jan. 31 against Missouri Western and the Bearcats have gone 8-1.
    Stanley is averaging 9.3 points per game since becoming a starter. She has produced five double-figure scoring games, including a pair of career-high 15 points games vs. nationally-ranked Pittsburg State and Emporia State.

BAILEY BRINGS IT FROM DEEP
Freshman Bailey Birmingham leads the MIAA in three-point field goal shooting percentage (.372). She ranks No. 2 in the MIAA in three-pointers made (67).
    She ranks tied for No. 28 in the nation in three-pointers made and No. 39 in the country in three-point field goal percentage.
    Birmingham has made at least one three-pointers in 23 of the 26 games she has played. She has made two more three-pointers in 19 contests. Birmingham buried a season-high six three-pointers and scored 25 points against Arkansas-Fort Smith.

Northwest has produced five consecutive .500 or better seasons - the longest since a five-year stretch ending in 1990-91.

Northwest ranks No. 3 in the MIAA and No. 42 in the nation in scoring defense by allowing 58.5 points per game.
    Northwest has limited 16 of its opponents to less than 60 points scored. Northwest is 12-4 when holding the opponent to 60 points or less.

Northwest is 17-2 this season when scoring 60 or more points.
    The only two times this season Northwest has scored more than 60 and lost was at Fort Hays State and at home vs. Central Missouri.

MAAS SWATS SHOTS, GRABS BOARDS
Sophomore Sadie Maas is Northwest's top shot blocker (68) and rebounder (8.2 rpg).
    Maas ranks No. 7 in the nation and No. 2 in the MIAA in blocked shots (72). She ranks No. 4 in the MIAA in total rebounds (240).
    Maas possesses 11 career 10-plus rebound performances as a Bearcat, including nine this season.
    Maas has collected 120 career blocked shots to rank No. 3 on Northwest's all-time blocked shots list. Maas became only the fifth Bearcat to collect 100 or more career blocked shots. Maas has blocked at least one shot in 48 different games as a collegiate player.
    Maas's 72 blocks rank as the second-best total in a single-season in Bearcat history. Maas also blocked 48 shots last season, which ranks as the sixth-best single-season mark in program history.

HAUCK FINDS THE SHOOTING TOUCH
Sophomore Kirsten Hauck has found her shooting touch in MIAA play.
    Hauck is making 40.9% of her three-pointers (38-of-93) in MIAA games to lead the league.
    Hauck's 38 made three-pointers in MIAA games ranks tied for seventh in the league.
    On the season, Hauck has knocked in 50 three-pointers and his averaging 8.9 points per contest.

Head coach Austin Meyer recorded his 100th career coaching victory in Northwest's Nov. 22 win over Lincoln.
    Meyer is the third Bearcat women's coach to reach 100 or more victories joining Wayne Winstead (311) and Gene Steinmeyer (189). Meyer has posted 115 career wins entering Friday's MIAA Tournament game vs. Missouri Southern. Meyer has gone over .500 with a 115-114 all-time coaching record.

TRIPLE-DOUBLE TIME
Sophomore Sadie Maas posted the MIAA's fourth triple-double of the season with a 17-point, 18-rebound and 11-block performance in a 65-60 road win over Missouri Southern.
    Nebraska-Kearney's Jillian Aschoff has two triple-doubles and Fort Hays State's Brooke Loewe has the other MIAA triple-double this season.
    Maas produced Northwest's second triple-double in program history and the first in an MIAA contest. Former Bearcat Dena McMullen had 15 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists vs. Northwood on Dec. 19, 2000.

DOUBLE-DOUBLE TALK
Sadie Maas collected her fourth career double-double and first triple-double at Missouri Southern with 17 points, 18 rebounds and 11 blocks.
    It is the fifth double-double this season for the Bearcats. Maas has three, Brooklyn Stanley has one and Andrea Lopreato has one.

MAAS SWATS 11 SHOTS AT MSSU
Sophomore forward Sadie Maas set the Northwest single-game record for blocked shots with 11 at Missouri Southern.
    Maas moved past Kyla Roehrig's nine blocks vs. Truman State (March 4, 2011) to set the Northwest single-game mark.
    The 11 blocked shots tied the MIAA single-game mark with UCM's Kendra Banzet (Feb. 26, 1994) and FHSU's Kate Lehman (Dec. 16, 2014).
    Maas's 11 blocked shots is tied for the second-highest single-game NCAA Div. II mark this season with Shaw's Mahogany Collins. Southwestern Oklahoma State's Landy Allen blocked 13 shots vs. Northwestern Oklahoma State on Feb. 12, 2026.
    
HAUCK DRAINS 7 TRIPLES
Sophomore guard Kirsten Hauck drained a career-best seven three-pointers and produced a career-high 26 points against the Missouri Western Griffons.
    Hauck's seven three-pointers is tied for the fifth-most made in a single game by a Bearcat. Hauck and Emporia State's Gracie Gilpin are tied for the MIAA single-game high this year with seven made three pointers. Hauck is tied for the 12th-most three-pointers made in a game this season by an NCAA Div. II performer.

Junior transfer Andrea Lopreato set the Bearcat single-game scoring record with 40 points against Sioux Falls at Civic Arena on Nov. 14.
    Lopreato became the first Bearcat women's basketball player to score 40 points in a game. It tied for the 14th-best single-game scoring mark in league history.
    She also set the single-game school records for free throws made (19) and attempted (21) in the game. Lopreato set the MIAA single-game record with 19 made free throws vs. Sioux Falls.
