MAGNOLIA, Ark. - The Northwest Missouri State University women's tennis team extended its dual winning streak to six in a row with a 6-1 victory Wednesday at Southern Arkansas.
The Bearcats won seven of the nine matches to move to 7-1 on the year. SAU fell to 4-6 overall.
Northwest won two of the three doubles' matches to take a 1-0 lead. The No. 2 doubles' pairing of
Chiharu Ito and
Miru Nonaka claimed a 6-4 win over SAU's Jolina Mass and Emilie Senepart. Northwest's No. 3 duo of
Majra Djokic and
Polina Gontaryk dispatched SAU's Victoria Perez and Isabella lazzerini, 6-2.
The Bearcats won four of its five singles' matches in straight sets.
Polina Gontaryk was pushed to a third-set super-tiebreaker where she prevailed over SAU's Taylor Conway, 4-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-4).
