Northwest is off to No. 18 UCO, Newman for Easter weekend MIAA softball action

The Northwest Missouri State University softball squad will travel to No. 18-ranked Central Oklahoma and Newman on Easter weekend to continue MIAA play.
 
The Bearcats (25-8 overall, 5-3 MIAA) are tied for fourth in league play with Central Oklahoma and both teams are three games out of first place. Northwest and Central Oklahoma will meet Friday with a doubleheader beginning at 11 a.m. The Bearcats and Jets will square off Saturday in a doubleheader starting at noon.
 
The Bronchos are 27-8 overall and 5-3 in MIAA play. The Bronchos are 10-2 at home this year. UCO owns a 41-12 lead in the all-time series with Northwest. A Northwest win last season snapped a 14-game losing skid against Central Oklahoma.
 
The Jets are 5-27 overall and 0-8 in MIAA action. Newman is 2-12 at home this year. Newman will take on Missouri Western Friday in a doubleheader before taking on the Bearcats on Saturday. Northwest holds an 11-2 lead in the all-time series against Newman. Northwest has won six straight games vs. Newman.
 
The Bearcats went 3-1 at home this past weekend by sweeping two games from Fort Hays State and splitting a twin bill with Central Missouri.
 
 
Northwest split both games of doubleheaders this past weekend at Rogers State and Northeastern State.
 
Northwest is 10-2 in one-run games and have collected five walk-off victories this season, including a 3-2 10th-inning triumph over Fort Hays State (March 27).
 
The Bearcats rank No. 25 in the nation and No. 3 in the MIAA in stolen bases with 73. The Bearcats are 73-for-86 in stolen base attempts this season. Emma Hauge leads the way with 16 thefts.
 
Northwest ranks No. 11 in the nation and No. 2 in the MIAA in sacrifice bunts (35). Mackenzie Mlnarik has dropped down a team-high 12 sacrifice bunts.
 
Northwest set the program record with 13 consecutive wins from Feb. 20 through March 20. The previous school record for consecutive wins was 11 in a row from March 29-April 9, 2006.

Streigle ranks No. 4 in program history with 45 pitching victories. She has produced 15 shutouts, which ranks tied for No. 4 in school history. Streigle has struck out 256 batters in her Bearcat pitching career, which ranks as the seventh-best mark in school history. She has pitched 457 1/3 innings, which is also the eighth-best total in program history.
