KEARNEY, Neb. - The Northwest Missouri State University women's tennis team extended its winning streak to 10 in a row with a 5-2 victory over the Nebraska-Kearney Lopers.
Northwest moved to 11-1 overall and 3-0 in MIAA with its 10th consecutive dual victory. Nebraska-Kearney fell to 6-6 overall and 0-1 in MIAA duals.
Northwest took a 1-0 lead in doubles' by gaining wins from No. 1 pairing Anne Carvahlo Pereira and
Polina Agapitova in a tiebreaker, 7-6. Northwest's No. 3 duo of Miri Nonaka and
Chiharu Ito posted a 6-3 victory.
Ito kept up her winning way in singles' action with a 6-4, 6-3 win over UNK's Clare Plachy at No. 3. singles.
Laura Prieto Sieiro gained a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 4 singles against UNK's Augustina Abdo.
Polina Gontaryk went the distance at No. 5 singles and gained a 6-3, 3-6, 1-0 (10-7) super tiebreak triumph over UNK's Valentina Zamora.
At No. 6 singles,
Polina Agapitova notched a three-set victory over UNK's Hannah Klaiber, 6-2, 1-6, 6-3.
