EDMOND, Okla. – The Northwest Missouri State University women's golf team opened its spring schedule with the first round of the Diffee Ford Lincoln Invitational held at Kickingbird Golf Club.

Northwest is tied for 12th in the 17-team field following Monday's opening round. Northwest shot 314 (+38). The course played to a par-70 and measured 5,828 yards for the 36-hole event.

Northwest totaled eight birdies as a squad, with seven of them coming on the front-nine at Kickingbird. The Bearcats had two birdies each from
Clara Peake,
Lauren Briggs and
Delaney Medlyn.

Peake was Northwest's top finisher in Monday's opening round with a score of 75 (+5). Peake recorded birdies at No. 2 and No. 4. Peake added a team-best 11 pars to her scorecard.

Briggs shot a first-round 78 (+8) that included birdies at No. 4 and No. 5.

Lexi Bartley notched her lone birdie of the round at No. 8 as she put together a score of 80 (+10).

Carleigh Reoh landed 10 pars and shot a first-round 81 (+11).

Medlyn secured her two birdies at No. 3 and No. 15. She shot a first-round score of 83 (+13).

Shaylee Ficken competed as an individual and posted a birdie at No. 9. She shot 82 (+12) on Monday.

The final round is set for Tuesday.
