Bearcats kick off outdoor season at Spire Distance Carnival in Kansas

The Northwest Missouri State track and field teams will open its outdoor season this weekend at the Spire Distance Carnival. The meet is set for Friday, March 20, on the campus of the University of Saint Mary in Leavenworth, Kan., with events beginning at 7 p.m.
 
Spire Distance Carnival Meet Information:
The Bearcats will send 6 athletes to compete in three long distance races at the meet.

2025-26 INDOOR SEASON WRAP UP:
Northwest enjoyed a successful 2025–26 indoor season, with both men's and women's teams taking home top-eight team finishes at the recent 2026 NCAA Division II Indoor Championships.
 
The Northwest women scored 22 points, placing seventh, and tying the team's highest finish in program history that it earned in 2024. The Bearcat men secured their fourth-highest team finish in program history, placing eighth overall with 22 points.
 
It is the eighth top-10 national finish for the Bearcat men at the NCAA indoor championships. It is the fourth top-10 finish for the Northwest women at the NCAA indoor championships. 
 
The Bearcats totaled 27 NCAA All-America honors over the course of the two-day meet. With four relay squads and seven individuals claiming first-team status and four individuals earning second-team recognition. 
 
Melanie Roland earned a runner-up finish for the Bearcats in the women's 400-meter dash along with posting her own second-fastest time in Northwest history. Kennedi Cline placed third in the finals and both Bearcats achieved first-team all-America performances.
 
Dominic Sedlacek captured a runner-up finish as well in the men's 60-meter dash, earning himself All-America first-team recognition.
 
The men's and women's distance medley teams both claimed top-eight finishes for the Bearcats, with the men placing third and the women coming in eighth. Both teams secured first-team all-America honors.
 
The men's and women's 4x400-meter relay teams provided strong first team All-America finishes to cap off the meet the men claiming sixth and the women taking home third.
