The Northwest Missouri State University men's tennis team is tabbed at No. 50 and the doubles' duo of
Dominik Wijntjes and
Gage Foltz came in at No. 18 in the country in the latest ITA national rankings.
The Bearcat men are 4-4 overall and will take on McKendree (Fri., 2:30 p.m.) and UMSL (Sat., 11 a.m.) in a pair of road matches. The men have won three straight dual victories against Arkansas-Fort Smith, Southern Arkansas and Southwest Baptist.
The men's doubles pairing of Wijntjes and Foltz moved up to No. 18 in the nation this week. The Wijntjes/Foltz team has gone 4-3 in dual action this spring at No. 1 doubles. The pair is 5-4 overall this year.
The Northwest women are 7-1 overall and will also match up against McKendree and UMSL this week. The women have scored six consecutive dual wins with their only loss coming to No. 8-ranked Midwestern State on Feb. 6.
Polina Agapitova is a perfect 7-0 this dual season at No. 5 and No. 6 singles. Northwest's No. 3 doubles' pairing of Majra Dojokic and Polina Gantaryk are 5-1 this spring. Northwest has captured the doubles' point in six of its eight duals this spring.
Saturday's matches between Northwest and UMSL will be played at the Dwight Davis Tennis Center at Forest Park in St. Louis, Mo.
