VIRGINA BEACH, Va. – The Northwest Missouri State University indoor track and field teams wrapped up day one of the 2026 NCAA Division II Indoor Championships Friday at the Virginia Beach Sports Center with six finals qualifiers and all-America honors for two relays squads and three individuals.
 
Melanie Roland showed off her talent once again this season by capturing the top qualifying spot in the women's 400-meter dash and produced the second fastest-time in school history. Kennedi Cline had similar success in the event, improving her standing in the school record books and qualifying for the finals with a fifth-place finish. 
 
Frank Sparks put in another impressive performance the men's 60-meter hurdle by securing the second-fastest qualifying time in the event and moving on to the finals tomorrow. 
 
The men's and women's distance medley teams both claimed top-eight finishes for the Bearcats, with the men placing third and the women coming in eighth. Both teams secured first-team all-America honors.

NCAA DIVISION II INDOOR CHAMPIONSHIP RESULTS – DAY ONE
(M) 60-meter Dash Prelims: Senior Dominic Sedlacek took third in the men's 60-meter prelims with a qualifying time of 6.65. Sedlacek will compete in the finals Saturday at 3:10 p.m.
 
(W) 60-meter Dash Prelims: Senior Krysta Abel crossed the finish line with a time of 7.56 earning 16th place overall.
 
(M) 60-meter Hurdles Prelims: Sophomore Frank Sparks punched his ticket to the finals by securing second place in qualifying by crossing the line at 7.84. Senior Moses Koroma finished with a time of 7.98, placing 12th, earning him a second-team all-America nod. Spark's NCAA finals debut is set for 2:40 p.m. tomorrow.
 
(M) 400-meter Dash Prelims: Senior Truman Hare claimed a spot in the finals with a time of 47.11 earning him eighth overall in the prelims. Hare is scheduled to compete in the finals tomorrow at 4 p.m.

(W) 400-meter Dash Prelims: Senior Melanie Roland captured the top qualifying time of 53.57 – gaining second-fastest time in school history. Right behind Roland was sophomore Kennedi Cline with a time of 53.91, securing fifth place and earning the fifth-best time in Northwest history. Roland and Cline both put in qualifying marks and will compete at in the women's 400-meter dash finals at 4:10 p.m. tomorrow.
 
(W) 800-meter Run Prelims: Marie Dea finished with a time of 2:10.45 which allowed her to capture tenth. Dea's 10th place finish earned her second-team all-America status. 

(M) Distance Medley Relay: Northwest's men's team, featuring Aziz Mohammed, Josh Fraker, Charlie Kinslow and Barnabe Gabillet claimed fourth place with a time of 9:41.29 – recording the third-fastest time in school history. The team earned first-team all-America honors for their fourth-place finish.
 
(W) Distance Medley Relay: Lydia McGlocklin, Jadyn Barnes, Kendall Tietjen and Kiki Witt, competed in the distance medley, securing a time of 11:39.84, claiming eight place, and earning Northwest's seventh-fastest time in school history. The team earned first-team all-American honors for their eighth-place finish.

Northwest will continue tomorrow, Mar. 14, for the final day of the 2026 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships. Saturday's events will begin with the women's pentathlon at 10 a.m. ET, with field events at 12 p.m. ET and running events at 3:40 p.m. ET.
