The Northwest Missouri State University women's and men's tennis teams will get their 2026 spring seasons underway this week against Midwestern State in Arkansas City, Kan.
The Northwest women will take on No. 8-ranked Midwestern State and the Bearcat men will match up against No. 18-ranked Midwestern State Friday at 2 p.m.
The Northwest women are 1-0 on the season after posting a 6-1 victory over Minnesota State this past fall. Bearcat women's senior
Miru Nonaka is ranked No. 10 in the central region. Nonaka was a second-team all-MIAA honoree in doubles last season. The Bearcat women are coming off an NCAA Tournament season from a year ago that had them at 16-9 overall in dual action. The Bearcats shared the regular season MIAA title and placed second in the 2025 MIAA Tournament.
It will be the first match of the season for the Northwest men. The Bearcats went 12-9 last season and 7-2 against MIAA/GAC foes.
Bernardo Henriques is ranked No. 7 in the central region.

Mark Rosewell is entering his 44th year of collegiate coaching and 42nd at Northwest. Rosewell has produced a record of 1,289-631 in 44 seasons of collegiate tennis coaching. Rosewell is 29-time MIAA coach of the year and a 30-time MIAA regular season champion. Rosewell is the all-time winningest coach in any sport in Bearcat history with 1,267 victories. Rosewell is 1,267-604 as a combined men's/women's tennis coach at Northwest. Seven times he has been honored at the ITA Regional Coach of the Year. The Bearcats have made 45 NCAA Tournament appearances (23 men/22 women) under his leadership.
