Following a split of its season-opening doubleheader in Oklahoma, the Northwest Missouri State University baseball will play two more twin bills this week against Arkansas-Monticello.
 
The Bearcats and Boll Weevils will play a four-game series with doubleheaders on Friday and Saturday at Majestic Park in Hot Springs, Ark. It will be the season opener for Arkansas-Monticello.
 
Northwest enters this week with a mark of 2-2 after splitting doubleheaders at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, Okla.
 
The Bearcats had an on-base percentage of .453 in the series with SWOSU. Northwest ranks No. 27 in the nation and No. 4 in the MIAA in OBP. Northwest drew 24 walks and had 14 batters hit by pitch vs. the Bulldogs.
 
Senior Jeremiah Cabuyaban leads the team in hitting with a .583 average and seven hits. Cabuyaban has put up three doubles and a homer for a 1.083 slugging percentage through four games. Cabyuaban recorded a hit in all four games against SWOSU.
 
Senior Frank Gall also had a hit in all four games vs. SWOSU. Gall is batting .286 with a homer and five RBI.
 
Junior Wilmer Jimenez leads the squad in RBI (6). Jimenez's three hits have all gone for extra bases with a double, triple and home run.
 
Junior John Connors has drawn a team-high five walks. Connors is batting .250 with a run scored and two RBI.
 
Sophomore Jase Johnson tossed 4 2/3 scoreless innings of relief in the 13-7 win over SWOSU. Johnson struck out six batters and allowed three hits as he gained the victory on the hill. Johnson has 0.86 WHIP and 0.00 ERA entering this week's series with Arkansas-Monticello.
 
Senior Landon Wells earned the victory in a 3-2 decision vs. SWOSU. Wells got the start and pitched 4 1/3 innings of the seven-inning victory over the Bulldogs. Wells allowed four hits and two earned runs in the win.
 
Senior Brock Steggall was credited with a save as he pitched 2 2/3 innings of relief work in the 3-2 win over SWOSU. Steggall whiffed three Bulldog batters and allowed three hits and no runs in the save. It was Steggall's fifth collegiate save for the Bearcats.
 
Northwest head coach Tony Jandron led the Bearcats to a berth in the 2025 MIAA Baseball Tournament championship game while securing the most ever wins by a first-year coach in program history.
 
Jandron guided the Bearcats to a 27-25 mark in the 2025 season. Northwest went 19-17 in MIAA play and earned the No. 6 seed in the 2025 MIAA Tournament. In 2025, the Bearcats set the program record for home runs (57) in a single season.
 
The Bearcats were selected to finish ninth in the 2026 MIAA preseason coaches poll.
