THIS WEEK'S ACTION
The Northwest Missouri State University women's basketball squad (15-10 overall, 8-7 MIAA) has won five straight games and will be at home this week against Northeastern State (Thursday, 5:30 p.m.) and Arkansas-Fort Smith (Saturday 1:30 p.m.).
        The Bearcats are in a tie for sixth place with Northeastern State in the MIAA standings. The top 10 teams will qualify for the 2026 MIAA Tournament set for March 4-8 at Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City, Mo.
    Northeastern State is 16-8 overall and 8-7 in MIAA play. The RiverHawks have lost five straight games, but are 7-4 on the road this season.
    Arkansas-Fort Smith is 4-20 overall and 3-12 in MIAA action. The Lions have lost three consecutive games. The Lions are 1-10 on the road. UAFS will play at Missouri Western Thursday night before taking on the Bearcats Saturday in Maryville.

SENIOR DAY SATURDAY
Northwest will celebrate Senior Day Saturday by honoring its lone senior in Ella Moody.
    Moody (St. Joseph, Mo./Central HS) has played in 82 career games and made 17 starts. She has produced 315 career points and has grabbed 135 rebounds. She set her career scoring high of 19 points at Nebraska-Kearney on Jan. 26, 2023.

FIVE STRAIGHT WINS
Northwest has taken its winning streak to five in a row with a pair of road wins over Missouri Southern (W, 65-60) and No. 20-ranked Pittsburg State (W, 65-59).
    Northwest's five-game win streak is the second-longest active one in the league behind Central Missouri's seven-game winning streak.
    The Bearcats have not lost since Jan. 23 at Central Missouri.

ALL-TIME VS. NORTHEASTERN ST
Northwest is 8-10 all-time vs. Northeastern State. The Bearcats have won six in a row in the series with the RiverHawks. NSU is 0-4 in its last four trips to Bearcat Arena.

UAFS won the first meeting against Northwest last season in Fort Smith, Ark., 56-47.
FIVE CONSECUTIVE .500 OR BETTER YEARS
Northwest has produced five consecutive .500 or better seasons - the longest since a five-year stretch ending in 1990-91.

LIMITING THE OPPOSITION
Northwest ranks No. 2 in the MIAA and No. 45 in the nation in scoring defense by allowing 58.4 points per game.
    Northwest has limited 13 of its opponents to less than 60 points scored. Northwest is 10-3 when holding the opponent to 60 points or less.

60+ = WINNING NUMBER
Northwest is 14-2 this season when scoring 60 or more points.
    The only two times this season Northwest has scored more than 60 and lost was at Fort Hays State and at home vs. Central Missouri.

HOME-COURT ADVANTAGE
Northwest is 11-3 at home this season and has reached 10 or more home wins for the third time under head coach Austin Meyer.
    Meyer's teams in 2023-24 (10) and 2021-22 (11) also reached double-figure win totals in Bearcat Arena. Meyer's all-time record at home is 54-47.
    Northwest has had 15 seasons of 10 or more home wins in program history.

TRIPLE-DOUBLE TIME
Sophomore Sadie Maas posted the MIAA's fourth triple-double of the season with a 17-point, 18-rebound and 11-block performance in a 65-60 road win over Missouri Southern.
    Nebraska-Kearney's Jillian Aschoff has two triple-doubles and Fort Hays State's Brooke Loewe has the other MIAA triple-double this season.
    Maas produced Northwest's second triple-double in program history and the first in an MIAA contest. Former Bearcat Dena McMullen had 15 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists vs. Northwood on Dec. 19, 2000.

DOUBLE-DOUBLE TALK
Sadie Maas collected her fourth career double-double and first triple-double at Missouri Southern with 17 points, 18 rebounds and 11 blocks.
    It is the fifth double-double this season for the Bearcats. Maas has three, Brooklyn Stanley has one and Andrea Lopreato has one.

MAAS SWATS 11 SHOTS AT MSSU
Sophomore forward Sadie Maas set the Northwest single-game record for blocked shots with 11 at Missouri Southern.
    Maas moved past Kyla Roehrig's nine blocks vs. Truman State (March 4, 2011) to set the Northwest single-game mark.
    The 11 blocked shots tied the MIAA single-game mark with UCM's Kendra Banzet (Feb. 26, 1994) and FHSU's Kate Lehman (Dec. 16, 2014).
    Maas's 11 blocked shots is tied for the second-highest single-game NCAA Div. II mark this season with Shaw's Mahogany Collins. Southwestern Oklahoma State's Landy Allen blocked 13 shots vs. Northwestern Oklahoma State on Feb. 12, 2026.
    
MAAS SWATS SHOTS, GRABS BOARDS
Sophomore Sadie Maas is Northwest's top shot blocker (62) and rebounder (8.1 rpg).
    Maas ranks No. 7 in the nation and No. 2 in the MIAA in blocked shots (62). She ranks No. 5 in the MIAA in total rebounds (202).
    Maas possesses nine career 10-plus rebound performances as a Bearcat, including seven this season.
    Maas has collected 110 career blocked shots to rank No. 7 on Northwest's all-time blocked shots list. Maas became only the fifth Bearcat to collect 100 or more career blocked shots. Maas has blocked at least one shot in 45 different games as a collegiate player.
    Maas's 62 blocks ranks as the second-best total in a single-season in Bearcat history. Maas also blocked 48 shots last season, which ranks as the sixth-best single-season mark in program history.

BAILEY BRINGS IT FROM DEEP
Freshman Bailey Birmingham is tied for second in the league with 53 made three-pointers and ranks No. 1 in the MIAA in three-point field goal percentage (.353).
    She ranks tied for No. 53 in the nation in three-pointers made and No. 50 in the country in three-point field goal percentage.
    Birmingham has made at least one three-pointers in 22 of the 24 games she has played. She has made two more three-pointers in 16 contests.

HAUCK FINDS THE SHOOTING TOUCH
Sophomore Kirsten Hauck has found her shooting touch in MIAA play.
    Hauck is making 40.0% of her three-pointers (28-of-70) in MIAA games to lead the league.
    Hauck's 28 made three-pointers in MIAA games ranks tied for sixth in the league.
    On the season, Hauck has knocked in 40 three-pointers and his averaging 8.5 points per contest.

SCORERS OF NOTE
Sophomore Sadie Maas set her career high with 17 points, 18 rebounds and 11 blocks vs. Missouri Southern. She added 12 points at Pittsburg State to give her 12 career double-figure scoring games.
    Junior Andrea Lopreato put up 17 points off the bench to reach double-figure scoring for the 14th time this season at Missouri Southern.
    Freshman Bailey Birmingham surpassed the 10-point mark for the 15th time this season with a 14-point effort at Pittsburg State.
    Sophomore Brooklyn Stanley scored a career-high 15 points in a 65-59 win over No. 20-ranked Pittsburg State. It was Stanley's second career double-figure scoring game as a Bearcat.

100 WINS FOR MEYER
Head coach Austin Meyer recorded his 100th career coaching victory in Northwest's Nov. 22 win over Lincoln.
    Meyer is the third Bearcat women's coach to reach 100 or more victories joining Wayne Winstead (311) and Gene Steinmeyer (189). Meyer has posted 112 career wins entering Thursday's game at home vs. Northeastern State.

MEYER IN OVERTIME
Head coach Austin Meyer is 8-3 in overtime games since taking over the program in 2018. Meyer and the Bearcats have won five consecutive overtime decisions.
    Northwest has overtime wins this season over Emporia State (77-70) and Washburn (65-61).
    Meyer is 2-0 all-time in double-overtime results.

HAUCK DRAINS 7 TRIPLES
Sophomore guard Kirsten Hauck drained a career-best seven three-pointers and produced a career-high 26 points against the Missouri Western Griffons.
    Hauck's seven three-pointers is tied for the fifth-most made in a single game by a Bearcat. Hauck and Emporia State's Gracie Gilpin are tied for the MIAA single-game high this year with seven made three pointers. Hauck is tied for the 12th-most three-pointers made in a game this season by an NCAA Div. II performer.

Junior transfer Andrea Lopreato set the Bearcat single-game scoring record with 40 points against Sioux Falls at Civic Arena on Nov. 14.
    Lopreato became the first Bearcat women's basketball player to score 40 points in a game. It tied for the 14th-best single-game scoring mark in league history.
    She also set the single-game school records for free throws made (19) and attempted (21) in the game. Lopreato set the MIAA single-game record with 19 made free throws vs. Sioux Falls.
