The Northwest Missouri State University indoor track and field teams opened their multi-meet weekend with strong performances at the David Hemery Valentine Invite, the Ichabod Invitational, and the 11th Annual Russ Jewett Indoor Gorilla Classic.
 
In the men's 1-mile run, senior Riley Witt secured the Northwest school record, earning a Division II provisional nod along with the fourth-fastest time in the nation so far this season. Senior Aziz Mohammed also had a strong performance in the 1-mile, placing second among Division II athletes competing in the event.
 
Northwest runners Olivia Bakker and Shelby Harris showcased their talents in the women's 5,000-meter run, as both recorded top 10 overall finishes in the event.
 
Sophomore Demarii Williams secured a top ten finish overall for the Bearcats in men's shotput.
 
David Hemery Valentine Invite Results:
(M) 1-Mile Run Invite: Senior Aziz Mohammed put in a Division II provisional time of 4:00.19, earning him 34th overall and second among Division II athletes competing.
 
(M) 1-Mile Run: Breaking the school record, senior Riley Witt placed 12th overall and first among Division II athletes, crossing the finish line with a new Div. II provisional time of 3:59.07 (3:59.068) – setting the fourth fastest-time in the nation this season and a new personal best. 
 
(M) 5,000-meter run: Senior Tyler Blay secured a time of 14:39.72 giving him 162nd overall and 14th against Div. II athletes.
 
Indoor Gorilla Classic Results:
(M) 5,000-meter run: Senior Austin Goetsche placed 24th with a time of 15:29.73
 
(W) 5,000-meter run: Crossing the finish line at 17:43.60, Olivia Bakker placed sixth overall and fifth among Div. II competitors. Junior Shelby Harris placed tenth overall and eighth among Div. II competitors with a new personal best of 17:58.66.
 
(W) Long Jump: With a leap of 5.45m (17-11.00), Abigail Troncin placed 17th out of 39 competitors. 

Ichabod Invitational Results:
(M) Shot Put: Sophomore Demarii Williams secured eighth overall with a throw of 16.01m (52-06.50). Next up for the Cat's was Alex Wilson with a throw of 14.52m (47-07.75), taking 18th overall.

Unattached thrower Ethan Gaschler placed fourth overall with a throw of 16.70m (54-09.50).
 
(W) Shot Put: With a throw of 11.62m (38-01.50), Freshman Jordyn Matiyow took 16th place.
