Northwest Splits Squads for Three-Meet Weekend

The Northwest Missouri State University indoor track and field teams are planning to hit the road and the split up to take on three separate track meets over the course of Friday, Feb. 13 and Saturday, Feb. 14. 
 
Washburn Invitational Meet Information:
First up for the Bearcats will be the Ichabod Invitational hosted by Washburn University in Topeka, Kan. On Friday field events begin at 12 p.m. with running events beginning at 2 p.m. Saturday field events will begin at 10:30 a.m. with running events beginning earlier at 10 a.m. 
 
Entry for spectators will be $5. Spectator parking in lots 3, 5 (softball fields), and 8 (baseball field). There will be no spectator parking allowed in lot 6 (Art / student rec. & wellness center).
 
Northwest will have athletes compete in the shot put events on Friday, with the women's competition beginning at 12 p.m. and the men's competition which is scheduled at 3:30 p.m. On Saturday Bearcats are scheduled to participate in the women's weight throw, which will begin at 10:30 a.m., and the men's weight throw at 2:00 p.m.

Indoor Gorilla Classic Meet Information:
Elsewhere in Kansas, the Bearcats will be heading to Pittsburg State University to compete in the 11th Annual Russ Jewett Indoor Gorilla Classic. Friday field events will begin at 2 p.m. with running events beginning later at 2:50 p.m. Saturday field events will begin at 12:00 p.m. along with running events beginning ten minutes earlier at 11:50 a.m. 
 
Entry for spectators will be $10. Senior citizens (55 and older) will be $8. Anyone 12 & under can enter for free. 
 
David Hemery Valentine Invite Meet Information:
For Northwest's final meet of the weekend, the Bearcat will head all the way to Boston, Mass., to compete in the one-day David Hemery Valentine Invite hosted by Boston University. Saturday's running events will begin at 9 a.m. ET.

Northwest athletes Aziz Mohammed and Riley Witt are entered to run the men's 1 mile run which is scheduled to take place at 3:30 p.m. ET. Mohammed is also entered to compete in the men's 3,000-meter run along with Tyler Blay which is listed to begin at 4:20 p.m. ET. On the women's side, runner Kiki Witt will participate in the women's 3,000-meter which is to begin at 4:40 p.m. ET following the men's race.

2025-26 INDOOR SEASON HIGHLIGHTS:
Northwest has enjoyed a successful 2025–26 indoor season, with the men ranked 7th nationally and second in the Central Region, while the women check in at No. 12 nationally and No. 3 in the Central Region. 
 
Both teams rank No. 2 in the MIAA conference USTFCCCA TFRI rankings.
 
Northwest has collected 37 NCAA Division II provisional marks this season across six meets— 20 by the Bearcat men and 17 by the women.
 
At the recent Northwest hosted multi-day Bearcat Invite, senior Dominic Sedlacek broke his own school record, earning himself a Division II provisional nod along with the third-fastest time in the nation so far this season in the men's 60-meter dash.
 
Sophomore Anjelena Carder had an impressive collegiate pentathlon debut by securing first place with an NCAA Division II provisional score and making it into the school record books at No. 7 with 3,594 points.
 
In the men's 4000-meter distance medley, Northwest runners Riley Witt, Logan Arellano, Charlie Kinslow and Aziz Mohammed claimed first with a Division II provisional time, earning the third-best time in the nation this season.
 
Runners Lydia McGlocklin, Kennedi Cline, Marie Dea, and Kiki Witt showed off their talents in the women's distance medley, setting the sixth-best time in the nation this year and taking first place overall.
 
Both of Northwest's men's and women's 4x400-meter relay teams had impressive performances with each claiming their respective titles. The women's team, consisting of Kennedi Cline, Marie Dea, Jadyn Barnes and Anjelena Carder set the third-fastest time in the nation so far this season.
 
Senior Aziz Mohammed continued his impressive season by breaking his own fourth-best time in the school record books and earning a new Division II provisional time. Mohammed also earned the 13th fastest time in Div. II so far this season.
