The Northwest Missouri State University football program had 54 student-athletes honored by the MIAA for their effort in the classroom.
Three Bearcats (
Shane Fredrickson,
Hayden Jay,
Chris Ruhnke) earned the distinguished Academic Excellence Award. The MIAA honored 30 student-athletes with the Academic Excellence Award in football. An MIAA Academic Excellence Award recipient must have a grade point average used by the institution for purposes of NCAA academic certification of 4.00 or better at the certifying member institution. The honoree also must have at least two terms of attendance at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms.
Northwest had 10 student-athletes gain MIAA Scholar-Athlete honors in

Luke Mathews,
Kaleb McCullough,
Wes Merriman,
Clayton Power,
Chris Ruhnke,
Quincy Torry,
Andrew Waltke,
Pierce Wand and
Holden Zigmant. To earn the MIAA Scholar-Athlete award, student-athletes must post at least a 3.5 GPA and have earned all-MIAA honors. The MIAA honored 41 student-athletes with the Scholar-Athlete Award in football.
The achievement of Academic Honor Roll was accomplished by 54 Bearcat football performers. To be recognized on the Academic Honor Roll, one must have a grade point average used by the institution for purposes of NCAA academic certification of 3.00 at the certifying member institution. The individual must also have at least two terms of attendance at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms. The MIAA honored 392 football student-athletes with the Academic Honor Roll award.
