Bearcats head to Pittsburg State for Rumble in the Jungle Invitational

The Northwest Missouri State University indoor track and field teams will take their talents to Pittsburg, Kan. to compete in the Rumble in the Jungle Invitational hosted by Pittsburg State University on Friday, Jan. 23. 
 
Field events will begin at 12 p.m. with running events starting at 2 p.m.

Entry for spectators will be $5. Anyone 12 & under can enter for free. 
 
2025-26 INDOOR SEASON HIGHLIGHTS:
Northwest has begun the 2025-26 indoor season strong, having recorded 16 NCAA Division II provisional marks this indoor season across three meets—eight by the Bearcat men and nine by the women.
 
In a historic feat at the recent Coach Richard Alsup Open held at Hughes Fieldhouse in Maryville, Mo. A trio of Bearcat runners—Maxime Touron, Aziz Mohammed, and Grant Bradley—achieved the remarkable milestone of completing the mile in under four minutes. 
 
Touron and Bradley participated as unattached runners, with Touron securing first place with a time of 3:59.395. Aziz Mohammed, competing as a Bearcat, finished second with a time of 3:59.757, which stands as the 17th fastest mark in NCAA Division II indoor history and set the school record for the indoor mile. Grant Bradley rounded out the top three with a time of 3:59.955, earning third-place honors.
 
Due to his performance Mohammed claimed the MIAA Male Track Athlete of the Week accolade along with sophomore Kennedi Cline landing MIAA Female Track Athlete of the Week. Cline notched a pair of NCAA Div. II provisional marks at the 2026 Coach Alsup Invite held at the Hughes Fieldhouse in Maryville, Mo. Cline placed second in the 200 meters with a provisional time of 24.36 (she missed out on first place by .01). Her time of 24.36 ranks as the No. 8 time in the nation. It ranks as the fourth-best time in Northwest school history. 
 
Cline was also a member of the 4x400-meter relay team that produced a time of 3:49.80, which ranks No. 13 in the nation. The quartet of Cline, Marie Dea, Jadyn Barnes and Kendall Tietjen took first place at the Alsup Invite.
 
Senior Dominic Sedlacek also shined, setting a new meet record in the men's 60-meter dash along with taking the first-place crown in his event. Sedlacek's time of 6.70 ranks as No. 5 time in the nation.
