The Northwest Missouri State University volleyball team will begin its 50th season of competition with three matches this weekend at the FHSU Tiger Invitational in Hays, Kan.
Northwest will match up against Arkansas Tech, Rockhurst and Cameron at the Tiger Invitational to initiate play in the 2025 season.

The home team is listed first. There will be a guaranteed 30-minute warm-up prior to each match. If a match finishes early, the next match will begin the 30-minute warm-up immediately.
Admission to the FHSU Tiger Invitational is available for $10 for adults and $5 for students, youth and seniors. Each day will be held as a single session. Separate tickets must be purchased for Friday and Saturday.
Northwest is 6-3 all-time vs. Arkansas Tech. The Bearcats last matchup with Arkansas Tech came in the 2016 season with a 3-1 Northwest victory in Warrensburg, Mo. Arkansas Tech, a member of the Great American Conference, went 13-17 in 2024.
Northwest and Rockhurst are tied 13-13 in the all-time series. Rockhurst has won the last two meetings which occurred in Kansas City, Mo., in 2018 and 2023. The Hawks, members of the Great Lakes Valley Conference, posted a mark of 21-8 and reached the NCAA Midwest regional tournament last season.
Northwest and Cameron have met once previously with the Bearcats scoring a 3-1 win in St. Louis, Mo., in 1990. Cameron is a member of the Lone Star Conference and went 2-26 last year.
Northwest has won five of its last six season-opening matches.

Northwest is led by 14th-year head coach
Amy Woerth. Woerth has produced a program-record 216 career victories. She holds a .593 winning percentage.
In the offseason, coach Woerth represented USA D-2 Volleyball in a tour of Brazil. She brought along seniors
Kasidy Mohwinkle and
Ella Caffery. The Bearcat trio did not lose any matches in Brazil.
Senior setter
Ella Caffery is Northwest's lone all-MIAA returnee. Caffery gained honorable mention all-MIAA status last season. She also earned Academic All-District honors with a 3.91 GPA in business management. Caffery led the team with 813 assists (7.60 assists/set). Caffery ranked second on the squad in blocks (57). Caffery collected a career-high 58 assists in a five-set win over Missouri Western (Oct. 8). Caffery produced eight double-doubles in 2024 and 17 in her career. She had four 40-plus assist efforts in 2024.
Caffery is the only current Bearcat to have recorded a double-double with 17 on her ledger.
For the 12th straight year and 19th time overall, the Northwest Missouri State University volleyball team has been honored as a recipient of AVCA Team Academic Award sponsored by INTENT.
The Bearcat volleyball team recorded a 3.86 cumulative team grade point average during the 2024-25 season. Northwest produced a 3.82 team GPA in the fall and a 3.91 team GPA in the spring. Northwest is one of 159 NCAA Division II schools to gain the AVCA Team Academic Award this year. Northwest is one of 33 NCAA Div. II schools to have captured the award in each of the past 12 seasons. Northwest is among 16 programs to have been a recipient of the AVCA Team Award 19 times or more and one of two MIAA schools (Emporia State) with 19 or AVCA Team Academic Awards.
For the seventh time in program history, Northwest also gained the AVCA Team Academic Honor Roll Award. The additional distinction of Team Academic Honor Roll celebrates programs in the top 20% of GPAs for their division. Northwest has gained the Team Academic Honor Roll in 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2024 and 2025. Northwest is one of 12 Div. II programs to have received the Team Academic Honor Roll in each of the past two seasons.
Head coach
Amy Woerth has compiled an overall mark of 216-148 and has taken over as the program's all-time winningest coach. Woerth captured her 200th career win in a 3-0 victory at home vs. Fort Hays State to close out the 2023 regular season. Woerth moved past Sarah Pelster, who had collected a mark of 199-226 from 1991 to 2002. Woerth captured her second MIAA Coach of the Year award in 2022. Woerth first earned MIAA Coach of the Year honors in 2018 and landed the award again in 2022 after guiding the Bearcats to the first MIAA regular season crown in program history. Woerth has led the Bearcats to five 20-win seasons in her tenure.
