TULSA, Okla. - The Northwest Missouri State University women's soccer team dropped a 5-1 exhibition match Saturday at NCAA Division I Oral Roberts.

The Golden Eagles showcased an assertive offense during the first half, outshooting Northwest 16-4 with ten of those shots on goal. Northwest goalkeeperÂ
Lily Ellis fended off eight of those shots, racking up eight saves in the first half. ORU managed to break through the Bearcats defenses twice in quick succession, the first coming near the 37th minute mark with a goal from Zoe Macabe assisted by Audrey Weir, and the second coming near the 40th minute mark with a goal from Genesis Helsley assisted by Kiran Singh, closing the first half 2-0 in favor of the Golden Eagles.Â

The second half continued much like the first with ORU outshooting Northwest 17-2, with eight of those on target. Midway through the half the Golden Eagles made two goals back-to-back, in the 72nd and the 73rd minutes of the game, with a goal from Kiran Singh assisted by Marlee Fort, and a goal from Brianna Castleberry respectively.

The Bearcats then responded with an unassisted goal from juniorÂ
Makenna West in the 76
th minute of the game, keeping the Bearcats from being shutout.Â

The ORU then closed out the match with a goal from Genesis Helsley, finishing off the match 5-1 for the Golden Eagles.Â

Goalkeeper Ellis kept the Bearcats in the match with 13 saves throughout the game.Â

Northwest has no scheduled games next week and will return Sunday, Sept. 28 to begin MIAA play against Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Okla. The Bearcats will then be back in Maryville to face off against Central Oklahoma University Friday, Oct. 3.Â
