Northwest Missouri State University senior women's tennis player Miru Nonaka advanced to the round of 16 in singles and doubles on day one of the 2025 ITA Central Region Tournament held in Edmond, Okla.
 
Senior Miru Nonaka gained an opening round win as she knocked off No. 7-seeded Kristina Kozlova (Henderson State) in a third-set super tiebreaker. Nonaka then posted a 6-1, 6-3 win over Sofiia Kotliarova (Northeastern State) to gain a spot in the round of 16. Nonaka will take on Augustana's Fernanda Sandoval Saturday at 8 a.m.
 
Freshman Elena Williams tallied a victory in the B Flight consolation draw to advance to Saturday's action. Williams scored a 4-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-7) victory over Arkansas Tech's Nabilah Dunn.
 
The Bearcat doubles pairing of Nonaka and Michelle Kostadinova blasted Sioux Falls's Ella Hancock and Sydney Osburn, 8-0. Nonaka and Kostadinova will take on the No. 4-seeded team from Augustana (Maria Fiacan and Fernanda Sandoval) Saturday at 3 p.m. in the round of 16.
 
Head coach Mark Rosewell's squad will continue play on Saturday and Sunday in singles and doubles looking to qualify for the ITA Cup in Rome, Ga.
