SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - The Northwest Missouri State University volleyball squad closed out its four-match effort at the Drury Invitational with a 3-1 victory over the Cameron Aggies.
Northwest won by set scores of 25-19, 23-25, 25-17 and 25-19. The Northwest victory improved the Bearcats to 5-2 on the year.
A week after sweeping Cameron in three sets, the Aggies pushed back today against the 'Cats and forced a four-set match.Â
Northwest pounded out a season-high 70 kills with five different Bearcats in double figures.
Kasidy Mohwinkle led the way with a career-best 17 kills.
Abby Bulthuis and
Elle Heckenlively tallied 13 kills.
Natalie Herrington bolstered the attack with 12 kills and hit .450, while
Kate Frakes notched 11 kills and hit .429.
Setter
Ella Caffery was credited with 54 assists and 18 digs to account for a double-double.Â
The Bearcat defense also stepped up and gained 73 digs against the Cameron attack. Following Caffery's lead of 18 digs, Mohwinkle secured 16 digs. Heckenlively tallied 12 digs, while
Ellery Luhring netted 11 digs.
Karsen VanScoy put up 10 digs for her seventh consecutive double-figure dig match this season.
Northwest will be in action next Thursday and Friday in Springfield, Ill., against Illinois-Springfield and Maryville.
