Top-25 Effort in Classroom for Bearcat Women’s Basketball

The Northwest Missouri State University women's basketball team landed a spot in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association's Academic Top 25.

The Bearcats tied for No. 24 in the nation with a 3.695 cumulative team grade point average for the 2024-25 season under the direction of head coach Austin Meyer.

It is the third time in the past four seasons, Northwest has gained a top-25 academic ranking. Northwest tied for No. 2 in 2021-22 and was No. 23 in 2022-23. Northwest was also ranked No. 5 in the 2012-13 season.

The WBCA Academic Top 25 recognizes NCAA Division I, II and III, NAIA and two-year college women's basketball teams across the nation that carry the highest combined GPAs inclusive of all student-athletes on their rosters for the entire season. The 2024-25 season is the 30th in which the WBCA has compiled the honor rolls.

"The WBCA is pleased to recognize those women's basketball programs that have committed themselves to excellence on the court and in the classroom," said WBCA Executive Director Danielle Donehew.  "The 119 teams we honor this year strive to achieve all-around success and we commend their efforts. Congratulations!"
