Northwest Missouri State University junior
Riley Witt gained a spot on the 2024-25 Academic All-America® men's track and field/cross country teams as selected by College Sports Communicators (CSC).
Witt (Osage, Iowa) has a 3.94 grade point average with a major in applied health: exercise science. Earlier this spring, Witt was honored as the NCAA Elite 90 award winner at the 2025 NCAA Div. II indoor track & field championships in Indianapolis, Ind. While in Indy, Witt claimed a pair of indoor All-America accolades in the mile (seventh place) and the distance medley relay (second place). Witt captured the 800m indoor title at the 2025 MIAA championship meet held at Hughes Fieldhouse on the Northwest campus. Witt gained second-team NCAA Div. II All-America honors with a 12th-place finish in the 800m run at the 2025 outdoor championships in Pueblo, Colo.
Witt owns the Northwest school records in the indoor mile (4:02.56), outdoor 800m (1:48.42) and 1,500m (3:42.48). He is a member of the school-record holding distance medley relay (9:33.06) with
Logan Arellano,
Maxime Touron and
Grant Bradley. Witt helped the Northwest men's cross country team to a 10th-place finish at the 2024 NCAA Div. II Cross Country Championships in Sacramento, Calif., the previous fall. Witt tallied honorable mention all-MIAA status at the 2024 MIAA Cross Country Championships in St. Joseph, Mo., as he helped guide the Bearcat men's program to a conference championship for only the second team in school history.
Witt gained USTFCCCA all-region honors in the 800m (indoors), mile (indoors), distance medley relay (indoors), 800m (outdoors) and 1,500m (outdoors).
The Division II Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division II national governance structure to assist the College Sports Communicators with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2024-25 Division II Academic All-America® program.
Witt is the 20th Bearcat track and field/cross country student-athlete to gain Academic All-America honors in program history. Witt is the 12th Bearcat track and field/cross country Academic All-America choice under the direction of head coach
Brandon Masters.
Overall, Witt is Northwest's 61st all-time Academic All-America® honoree beginning with Chip Gregory in football in 1981.
